Asheville, NC / Helen, GA Area

Anybody up in the Asheville, NC./Helen, GA. area at the moment. Just curious about the foliage. Have the leaf changes begun. I'm going up on a car only trip tomorrow for a few days and wondered if we'll luck out on the sights.

I'm a little north of Asheville. The leaves have started to turn but they are not near peak and I don't think there will be much color this year. The leaves are falling without turning. Peak season comes later each year.

From now through the next week is probably as good as they are going to get. Come on to the hills and enjoy

Living SW of Asheville, we are seeing foliage colors at about 3500 elevation. We are having our first real dip in temps starting today. Some Western Carolina extension experts indicate less coloring this year due to the heavy early spring rains we had. It's still got to be a nice visit for you with cooler temps and low humidity.

It is great in Franklin,NC now as the hardwoods are turning red but there is still a lot of green. We had frost at 2400' last nite so will see if that speeds it up

Just came through the mountains around Asheville today. Colors seem to be slow turning, a lot of yellows but little reds and oranges from the hardwoods. Many of the trees are dropping leaves. On the east side of the mountains there is virtually no color. Either trees almost bare or still green....not much of the in-between colors. We are now in Winston-Salem and the color is still predominately green?????
