Another Noobie....sorta
My wife and I have been RVing since we got married 40 years ago when we bought our first pick-up camper. When the kids got bigger the pick-up camper became too small, and I was in no position to buy anything bigger so we became tent campers again. When we became empty-nesters we bought a hybrid trailer, but weren't that thrilled about it, even after we bought a bigger tow vehicle. So seven years ago we purchased a new Keystone Outback 26RKS and pulled it with a new F-250 diesel. I didn't think life couldn't get too much better!
Fast forward to today, and we've visited 44 states and a couple of Canadian provinces in "Obi". We loved it, especially with our two new "kids", a couple of miniature Schnauzers who've traveled with us since 2010. We've bonded, and we're now part of an extended pack....
Recently I determined that Obi was getting a little long in the tooth, in spite of the fact that I added a 4300 watt generator, a solar system, and an automatic HD satellite system. We longed for something bigger and more luxurious, and I believe we found it in a brand new Montana High Country 343RL.
So yesterday we committed to purchasing the 343RL (henceforth dubbed "Monte"), but we have to travel almost 500 miles one-way to just outside of Sacramento to pick it up. I've purchased the 5th wheel hitch, and will have the dealer add a second air-conditioner, slide-out awning toppers, a MOR/ryde Pin Box System, and a 6500-watt propane generator. I also plan to move the solar and satellite systems to the 343RL.
For almost the entire time we've had Obi, I've been active on Outbackers.com and have appreciated the camaraderie not to mention the wealth of information the members had. I don't think I would have learned what I did with out the Internet. Instant information/gratification!
Now I'm switching allegiances from Outback to Montana, but remember, it's still all in the family!
I'll be lurking a while until I have the 343RL in front of my home and moved all the paraphernalia from Obi to Monte....
