Don,

We're on the other side of the lake in Pointblank - what dealer did you use?

We're going to use Coastal RV. We have heard great things about them and the owner called us back right away.

UPDATE
We are still in Charleston. The back end cap had to be ordered from Keystone and they told us 4-6 weeks. We are now in Week 5 and no word. Looks like we will be staying in Charleston for Christmas. We hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hopefully Santa will bring an early Christmas present in the form of a new rear cap. Have a merry Christmas and great holiday where ever you are.

After reading similar reports of delays I was very happy when the RV repair facility that repaired my badly damaged rear cap assured me they were fully capable of repairing mine rather than replace it. And guaranteed the work. Back on the road in 3 weeks looking like new. Too bad you were not in this area.

Finally going to the Shop!

Well, we are finally, after 5 months, taking the Monty in for the repairs this Friday. This whole episode has been a nightmare. Everything from the original order being lost, the end cap being shipped and arriving damaged, (yes Keystone knew - even left a note in the crate) folks going on vacation, then the holidays, my sister past away, well you get the idea. So, please keep us in your thoughts for the next 3 weeks so we can get back on the road. We are due in Bushnell, Fl for a camp host gig middle of March.

Thanks for all your comments.
Ann

pipso63 - This thread you have responded to is almost 4 years old. There have been more similar threads, some fairly recently. I would suggest you start a new thread and include pictures of your damage to get more and better answers.

Phil,

Based on posts here I have seen costs range from $4,000 to $12,000. You really need to get an estimate to know what you are dealing with.

I caught the rear cap of mine on a steel column pulling out of storage. Pulled one side of the cap back a foot or so and tore the fiberglass cap in 3-4 places. I posted pictures on another similar thread. Found Coach Specialist of Texas located in Mansfield on google with very good reviews. They had just opened a satellite location in Plano. I taped and ratchet strapped the cap and dropped it off in Plano. They then took it to Mansfield. They worked up an estimate, contacted my insurance, got approval, completed the work, and had it ready in 3 weeks. And that spanned over a July 4th holiday weekend. They have fiberglass repair capabilities and repaired mine rather than wait weeks/months for a new cap. Finished product looked new even several years later. Total cost as approx $14,000. I paid the $500 deductible.

Based on my experience I can highly recommend Coach Specialist of Texas.

Oops. You mentioned owning property in nearby Princeton and I assumed you were close to here. Then noticed you are in Rancho Cordoba. Not close.

Phil: get an estimate from Rehorn RV Collision Center in North Sacramento. Hands down the best repair shop in the area.
