Brakes Re-Visit

I wanted to start another topic of brakes after what was shown to me this weekend.

We were at a Rally this weekend, and a friend of ours, another happy Montana owner, told me about his brake issue. While he was returning from a trip, he lost all power to his brakes. carefully arrived home and discovered that the wires were worn and broken. He fixed them and all worked fine.

We looked at our unit, and were fixing to have the same problem. Thanks to him, we fixed them, and now is OK. Thank you Glen.

On the street side of your unit, the wires go through the bottom of the coach, and to both axles. As you travel down the road, wind, rain, dirt, vibration...whatever, the plastic retainer that is use will open-up and let the wires drop down. Which will let them reach the spinning brake-drum. After a short period of time, the scraping of the insulation will allow the wires to break. There are plastic keepers that are suppose to keep these from harms way, but the are defective. You can fix this easy with 2 wires plastic ty-wraps. Push the excess wire back into the bottom of the coach, and ty-wrap the wires to anything that will keep them away from the tires and brake-drum.

Check this even if you have had no problems, and regardless of the mileage of your unit. It is easy to fix, and a cheap fix.
