Third A/C

Now that we are living full time in the desert and with summer just around the corner, we are considering adding a third A/C to our HC 381TH.

It is my understanding that you can add a third A/C to a vent and have it dump directly (non ducted). If I got it correct it can be powered by a separate 15/20amp 110volt cord directly to the campsite pole? That would make it particularly useful at 30 amp sites, if and when we decide to get on the road again.

I have had very good luck listening to the advice of others on here for upgrades/brand changes. My question is which brand of A/C would you go with for the third, keeping in mind we need to be low profile as the unit is very tall?

Also, what amperage do the larger BTU units draw?

We used a Dometic for ours. Powered it directly from where they had the power wires connected to the switch that was supposed to keep all three from running and went right to the side of the camper and put a 30amp plug there (easier to source) but I have cords and adapters to go either to an open 30amp or 20amp whatever is available. Just knock on our door and I can show you what we did.

Maybe with a little more light at the end of the day now I will be able to visit occasionally.....

The A/C units keeping up is my number 1 concern here in the desert. In part because I have already seen the unit does not stay cool without shade. Granted some of it may be poor design of ducting which I will also address. But for sure I don't want to risk coming home to boiled Chihuahua so I want that third AC as a backup!!

We do stay in areas of Moderate weather. We have been in very hot areas in the summer time and our 2 A/C barley kept up but did keep us comfortable. We do not have the need for a 3rd A/C but would definatly have one if we were in very hot areas most of the time.

we have 2 a/c s. with our dometic 10 key we can add another a/c unit, in fact you have 4 zones on it. there is a communication connector on my 2nd a/c that would plud into a third a/c.
