V10 cries uncle!

Finally gave the old faithfull f350 v10 a break after I got my 2012 3402RL it was just too much for the old girl going up the pass it did it without fail but was crying all the way, traded it in for a chevy 3500 Duramax dually, I apologize to my Ford brothers but Damn this Duramax diesel KICKS SERIOUS BUTT! and is real quiet hope the chevy treats me just as well as the old Ford

Good luck with the new truck!

Our new truck is my first diesel - man can this thing tow. Have had only two trips so far with the new truck and trailer, and I could not be happier with the towing ability of the diesel.

Thanx Greg, It will be nice not hearing the V10 screaming at 5000rpm up the Snoqualmie pass I felt sorry for the old girl and "put her out to pasture"

Yeah, I know my wife was getting tired of me on the trips because I just kept saying "We're going 65ish, uphill, and not even 2,000 rpms!!" "I can't believe this thing!" Our Expedition with our old travel trailer would be screaming to get up any hill. I know she may not totally understand the torque and low rpms, but she knows it makes me happy so it's a good thing

Just can't beat a diesel towing our kind of weight. Good luck with your new truck!

You will love that Duramax. More so after you get about 35,000 miles on it. I got 19.8 mpg empty going to Michigan last week. Dropped to 10.9 pulling the Monty home.

Same thing with our 05 Ford F-350 V -10.We could not hear ourselves talk over the screaming on those hard pulls.Going up a pass in New Mexico with Helen driving and we were doing like 30MPH and screaming. Helen said..we need a diesel.Got one.

Jim-- You won't regret that Duramax! I've got a 2007 2500 and it has no problems pulling the Monte or stopping it either. I am looking at upgrading to a 3500 but it will still have the Duramax/Allison combo in it and all the goodies that come with it. I pulled up Lookout Mountain over in Georgia last March and it had switchbacks and all and had no problem at all----up or back down the grade and it was way over a 10% grade! Keep us posted on how things go!

i thought i did good getting a f250 v10 rear end? but it does scream at 40 mph in first at 5000rpm.
i'll have to live with it for a few more, at least it's better than the f150 v8 i started with, onlt frying valves and stretching timing chanes and blowing out plugs

The V10 Is one of the great GAS Ford motors ever made in alot of peoples opinion it had a LONG run, but it does have it's limits with a V10 You have to have the right gearing at least 4.10 or better yet 4.30......3.73 does not cut the mustard if you have a bigger 5th been there done that

not a gear-head -- just Irish
where do i find the gear ratio #
also what does a rear end change cost and is it worth it
I've started to explore using the transfer shift to 4 low without the front hubs in
it's a 2003 and blue-ish
