The beautiful Colorado mountains
Names; Estes Park. Should have been named 'Beautiful Village nestled in a Valley at the tops of the Mountains'
Guess that wouldn't fit on the sign very well.
This place is breath-taking beautiful, the Rocky Mountain National Park system is a short drive away, actually the entrance is about Half a mile and three herds of Elk away. Elk are like the Deer around my place, only not afraid of people, and are milling and grazing all the time.
This RV park is among the best I have been in, about 1/8 occupied. We are up on the slope a block or two from the rest of the occupants. Nice. Little Chipmunks or whatever they are, everywhere. Sue stepped in one of their excavations and almost fell. But they are cute and remind her of the Meercats.
In a week we will move to another site where the rear picture window will face high peaks, snow covered and grand.
We will inspect another camp-ground higher in the mountains today, as we will move there the 17th if available.
If you get a chance, come here and be prepared to fall in love.

Ozz,
We do have room here in Colorado if you decide to make your stay more permanent. They let this old Show Me boy stay here so long ago I can remember when.
I just got back home from a place yesterday that is 10,800 ft in alt. This was a place where we made our lives for more than 30 years. It still makes me stare in awe up there. There are many people that live above 10,000 feet.

i agree ozz we were in estes park about 10 years ago and it was beautiful i think your staying at the same park we did. it also had 3or 4 little cabins for rent also .your right if you come be prepared to fall in love, we are heading to parshall colorado outside silverthorne in june looking forward to the mountain air.

... and that is why we moved here to Colorado from NY. I tell DW, the only way I'm moving from Colorado is in a pine box. This past weekend it took us a whole hour to get from our driveway to our national forest campsite. Enjoy your stay Ozz and try to squeeze in some mountain trout fishing. It's the best!

Lynwood, I plan on a month at least here, maybe more but probably Utah.. or ???
Jay, I have never fished before in my life, just might try that. But I hear they stink and are slimy.. do you get over that?

Ozz,
The trick is to minimize the time between pulling them from the water to putting them in the frying pan. I simply gut the fish, wash it out, leave the head, tail and skin on and fry them up with some butter in the pan. Cooking outside is best since you avoid cooking odor in the rig. Trout are a clean and tasty fish (IMHO).

If you have a chance the Old Fall River Road is the old road to the top of the mountains in the national park. It is a beautiful drive. It is one way. Up. Then you use the new road to come back down. It is worth the time to drive that road. Take lots of time to get out and see things too. And take pictures. You are in a beautiful area of the country. You can go in any direction and it is beautiful. It is fun to just pick a road and go. Have fun. On the Old Fall River Road the sign says something scary but it is not bad at all and your truck can do it fine. Mine did.

Rvghostdriver, sounds like an adventure! We will buy a Topographical map hopefully today, we have been on some high roads already but not there. They still have 25' drifts on some roads.
sfish, we wanted to beat the heat there, but across Kansas as well, sounds like we left in time.
Stiles, I used to live in the Springs, and Woodland Park, Cascade areas, have wanted to return for a long long time.
Pat, put this on your to-go-list. That Montana has the ability to travel quite comfortably.

Estes Park and that area is very beautiful. It was amazing to me to see Elk just lounging around the grocery store parking lot and crossing the streets in town without a worry in the world. I was there last Fall and visited the Stanley Hotel and ate lunch there. I want to go back and take one of their "ghost" tours. Fascinating history to the hotel.
Our daughter is going to Nursing School in Denver and our son works at the Ritz-Carlton, also in Denver.
I should be in Denver again this month on the 15th but don't have time to make it to Estes Park on this trip otherwise I'd look you up.

Even though we've never met, I'm thinking about you and your wife Ozz. I flew to Denver from California on Friday to take care of our son who had an emergency appendectomy on Thursday night.
I'm sitting on his balcony, across from Coor's Field and watching the people get their food/drinks at the outside concession stands and listening to the crowd each time the Rockies score a run or do something that pleases the crowd.
I did an earlier comment about Estes Park and how beautiful it is. Enjoy, I envy you as I am so close.... but so far away from Estes Park! ha ha

Doug, I hope your son is recovering nicely. Nice of you to come and be with him.
We are just north of you now in Loveland. The beast city in the United States!
Isn't it nice to be able to sit outside in the Summer. Back home in Missouri, the humidity is so high that even on a mild day is too humid to enjoy the outside. We will not live another year in Missouri if we can work things out. I have a real estate agent looking at my home and property now to give us an idea of it's value on today's market.
Enjoy the time you have here in this wondrous state.
