Broken rear picture window

hey everyone,
during our travels this past weekend, we stopped in at wichita kansas at the walmart right off 54 and were going to stay in the parking lot. heard a noise and didnt think much of it as it was not a bad noise, got up a little bit later to find the rear picture window completely shattered. we ended up heading into walmart and getting lots of boxes and taping together and having to make it work, found the BB that was used from the BB gun in the floor this morning. does anyone know what kind of expense a new rear window for a 3400 will be, i am betting pretty expensive, thanks

Oh NO!

One of my worst fears. I always walk slowly to the back with my fingers crossed after a hard run or when retrieving the rig from storage to take a reluctant glance at the rear window to see if its still there.

I actually have no idea on cost. It just looks expensive.

Was this an "internal shoot out?"

Sorry to hear about the misfortunate window. If you were hooked up to you camper, your tow vehicle insurance might cover it depending what coverage you have. It might be worth a call to your insurance co.

it wasnt internal, but it was intentional. found out that the window itself is 399.00, crate charge is 50.00 and shipping is 250.00, still awaiting the install charge. if it were one of the small windows i would do myself, but this big of one i would be scared of tweaking it wrong and not having a backup plan.

It wont be cheap because they dont sell just the glass at Keystone, they make you buy the whole thing Frame and all. Keyston does not keep these as a stock shelf item they will have it made at there supplier. time to call your insurance co, this will not raise your rates either. your second choise is a glass company you might get lucky and in a lot less time.

You might want to check with OZZ; seems him ordered some windows from the vendor. This might cut down on the delivery time.

Sorry that someone had to get their kicks at your expense. It is sad.

MODERATOR -

Any reason this thread keeps sending out 3 emails to the suscribers for each post? Originally it was echoing posts X 3, but that seems to be fixed.

Hey everyone, Got with insurance it is going to be $240.00 deductible, but it will take a month to get here. If you really need to replace it and your insurance won't pay for it, it will cost you about $900.00 to $1000.00.

That could hurt, and would be even worse for us as we have thermo-pane windows. Sometimes I hate kids... Dave

Told you!
I had a large rock hurled through my old Terry 5er front room window and with all the damage to the vanetion blinds, and window, it came to almost $1700.00 parts and labor less my 250 deductable.
and when the Monty was broken into, the dining room window it was about the same dollar amount, thats just for the window alone not counting the broken storage compartments along with paint damage from screwdriver or pry bar.
