replacing stock tires/wheels

Ok so I just closed the deal on our new 2015 3440RL. The first thing I want to do is change out the TK tires. The tires chosen are rated at 110PSI but the stock wheels with the unit are stamped at 85 PSI. Any suggestions from other out there that have addressed this issue? I am looking to change the wheels in support of the G rated tires I am purchasing. The dealer though willing to assist is not in the tire and wheel business and would simply be taking the tire wheel assembly to a local shop so I am looking to simplify this and have everything in hand at my local tire shop to replace. If Keystone provides a 110PSI wheel on 2016 models what is the wheel and would anyone suggest a web based distributor from which I could obtain with little hassle. Thanks to all.

Surprised. Our 2015 came with the heavier rims. Surely the dealer can swap them out.

If your trailer came with 110 psi tires and 85 psi wheels I would complain to Keystone. Those tires should NOT be mounted on 85 psi rims

The tires and wheels supplied are E rated and 85PSI respectively. The dealer while willing to assist would do no more than facilitate the tire and wheel change at tire shop local to them. They have no ability or not willing to get me wheels replaced from Keystone if that is even an option. After calling Keystone this morning they were very company line with regards to no recommendations on alterations and modifications.

So all that said I am just looking for advice on a 110 PSI rated wheel and distribution source for the 110 PSI G rated tires I will mount. I have seen references to Tredit on other posts and that was going to be my first place to look.

I think what he said is, he wants to mount g rated tires, but the wheels on the new rig are only rated 85 psi, which is very odd, as Montana's have been coming with 110 psi wheels for quite some time now, unless the dealer did a swap before the sale. I would be checking the build sheet, and maybe contact Keystone to see what wheels should be on that rig.

My 2015 came with 110lb rims also.. Me thinks someone switched rims at some point. Call Keystome and ask what your unit shipped with. You will need the Vin number when you call.

Looking through stock photos of your rig on various dealer sites, it appears that it should have come standard with eight lug rims from Tredit and from what I can tell is a J55 eight lug black rim. This page gives the details:

Tredit J55 rims

If the picture as shown of the J55 rim is the same as yours, and it has eight lugs, the specs show it to have a rated load capacity of 3750 pounds, which equates to a G rated tire. From what I remember over the years, all eight lug rims are rated at 110 psi and six lug rims are rated below that. I think you should verify your information with Tredit and ignore your dealer and Keystone on this.

Note that he said his wheels are STAMPED 85 PSI. I don't think you can ignore that.

I would call Tredit and see what they have to replace your OEM wheels.

To clarify, I did not say to ignore the stamping, I said to contact Tredit as you did, and see what they have to say, if that necessitates replacement of the rims, then I would trust Tredit before the others. I am eager to see what Tredit has to say and to also find out if the provided rims are six lug or eight lug. The reason is that if they are eight lug and are now only rated for 85 psi, then Tredit has changed their practices and this information needs to be known so that forum members can make educated recommendations to others. Something here is not making sense on a 16,000 pound rig as compared to past practices.

I agree, this is the first I've heard of a new Montana coming with 85# wheels. Check with Keystone and find out if the dealer switched yours to sell another rig (folks in the know buying used will tell the dealer they'll take the deal if they put on 110# wheels and guess where they get them). Then call these folks and see what they have for you: http://www.tredittire.com/wheels

Ok thanks everyone for the suggestions. The wheels are stamped at 85# and yes it is possible they were swapped at some point. I will have to call keystone to inquire via the vin number as to the build sheet. Tredit is able to get me the G rated tires and the 110# rated J55 wheels. The j55 is the same 8 lug pattern they provide to Keystone for this unit shipping now. The J55 8 lugs are on the unit now however the stamp is clearly 85#. So unless Keystone provides me with a build sheet that indicates the unit was shipped with 110# rated J55 wheels I think I may be SOL.

I don't doubt Keystone would put 110 PSI tires on 85 pound rims. They put 65 MPH tires on campers and send them out on 75 MPH interstates.

I definitely would be contacting Keystone Customer Service on this issue. My 2013 3582RL came with 110 lb rims and I was under the impression that since about 2010 or 11 all of the Montana's came with the 110 lb rims. Either your dealer is mistaken on the rims OR Keystone screwed up and got some rims that were suppose to be rated higher in pressure and did not catch it when they put them on the units.

Keystone's Montana started putting 110PSI rims on in year 2011-2012 somebody pulled the old switcharoo on ya , if you looked at the other Monty's on the lot they will all be 110PSI rims.....You said the Monty was bought brand new so either The dealer or Keystone WILL be getting you new rims on their dime

Don't need the build sheet just the VIN #. Keystone will have the build sheet.

Ok so Keystone customer service apparently cannot determine or will not tell me anything other than the options that were included on the coach as well as J55 wheels. But they cannot tell me the psi rating of the wheels. This seemed so simple to me at the outset. I will try Keystone again tomorrow morning maybe I will get someone else on the phone that actually can give me the information I am looking for.

Try to contact Tredit and they can definitely tell you what rims/wheels were purchased for the units. If they were J55 wheels Tredit can tell you whether they are 85 or 110 psi also. Keep us in the stream and let us know how things go.

Issue resolved, G rated tires and metal valve stems on their way to be swapped out with OEM E rated tires. Someone incorrectly intimated the wheel pressure rating at 85 PSI.
