Hercules Tires

Looking at replacing the Goodyear Marathons which came on my Montana.
Have priced Goodyear G614 around $400 plus a tire mounted balanced and tax. While looking for a trailer tire with a higher rating than an "E" we came across a Hercules Tire. There is a "F" rated 235/85 r16 which is 12 ply and has a 3960 max load at 95psi. They are around $135 a tire. They also have a "G" rated tire which is 14 ply 3756 max load at 110psi. They run around $185 a tire. Much less expensive than the G614. Has anyone had experience with Hercules Tires. Thanks for your input.

Forgot to mention we weighed our rig at a Cat Scales and it was 11640# on the trailer axles.

Have you tried Googling the brand for complaints to see if there are any issues with them? Other than that, I've never heard of them, plus check the date on them to make sure the seller hasn't had them sitting around for a few years.

Hmmmmmm....you get what you pay for and you ain't payin a whole lot for a tire called Hercules. I think the Chinese keep changing the names of their tires to keep ahead of all the bad reports. Never heard of Hercules????? But the good thing is you don't have to go with a G rated tire, at your weight a LT tire would be fine and give you good service without blowing up. But they will still cost a little more then Hercules lol lol as I said though you get what you pay for...

Could be wrong, but I believe they are manufactured by Cooper and had a major recall earlier this year for a tread separation problem. It that's true it sounds like a great substitute for Marathons. No difference in performance

I guess it depends on your local as to what's popular and what's not. Around Wichita, Kansas on down into Oklahoma ... Hercules tires are sold by some of the local tire stores and are used by a good many farmers on their pickups. I've run two sets of the 12 ply on the rears of my dually with no problems. The treadlife is a bit less than say BF Goodrich, but that shouldn't be an issue with using it as a trailer tire. $135/ tire is a good price as they run @ $168 out here.

Jeff, you indicate in your post that the Hercules F rated is 3960. Is this correct for an F rated tire?? Just curious. Tks

Dennis, Per Hercules Tire website that is the weight rating for the Hercules Power STR 235/85 R16 F rated. Interesting I was on Trailer and Wheels website looking at 17.5 inch tires and the there was a Saulin/Hercules tire. Just wondered if they are associated.

My mistake it was the Tredit website that I saw the Sailun/Hercules tires. Anyone know about this? Many good things said about the Sailun 937 could the Hercules be associated? If so may be another option.
