Got batteries?
Time to change both of the Batteries in my Super Duty, did a little research and think I will go with the Die Hard Platinum.
Any of you boys and girls have any other ideas, or suggestions?
I think I will pass on the Optima... too pricey
Check out these links; tried to shorten them with Tinyurl, but it wouldn't work for some reason.

ConsumerReport says Group 65 Die Hard Platinum, group 34/78 the same Die Hard. Looks like you picked a good one Ozz.

OZZ,
Check on the Auto Zone best battery. They have full replacement for 3 years then prorated for the next two. I have been using them for 6 years and no problems. I use them 3 years then replace them and put the old ones in the Monty and they work great in both.

I went for duration and cost. I bought Bosch batteries for my truck. The books called for 850 CCAs and when I took out the original batteries I found they were under 700 CCAs, (I forget but I think it was 675). What's up with that? They didn't even put in what the books called for at the Ford factory. I wonder if that's why BOTH batteries only lasted 4 1/2 years and 58,000 miles. I have never had batteries go bad so soon and this truck has TWO of them.
Lowest price I found was at Pep Boys for Bosch batteries offering 3 years replacement and 5 more years prorated and were about $90 each after refunding the cores. They were also 850 CCA. The original Bosch battery in my wife's 2001 Mercedez Benz lasted 9 years!!! Not bad for that Power hog she drives. Everything is electric and computerized on that car. I'm hoping putting Bosch in the Ford is okay.

Thank you to the nice Peep that made the links short. Don't know why Tiny URL didn't work.
I will check around. Now, I am earning $$, in a year I will be poor again, so I want the best

Off topic a bit--- I always thought of Johnson Controls as being in the temperature control business, not in the battery business, things change.

Hmmm, I'm wondering if this battery is better than mine? Its more expensive but specs not lining up.
Mine are (2 of these) 27524 Group 27M, CCA 575, Amp Hr @ 20hr rate 105, Reserve Capacity 180min, was about $100.00 each
Your selection is Platinum Group 65, CCA 930, Amp Hr @ 20hr rate 75, Reserve Capacity 135min, at $209.00?!
I bought mine not worried about the CCA but more for the Amp Hr and RC values.

If you are buying a battery for you tow vehicle than CCA's are important, if for your trailer than amp hour and RC are

I went with a little more expensive battery than you, not that it matters. Mine are 12v and I think you are set up with 6v, aren't you?
I put in the INTIMATOR - AGM - MAINTENANCE FREE. No adding water or fumes to vent. Got mine from www.remybattery.com ...JB

Jack, this is for my Super Duty. The Platinum is an AGM battery, I will look at your choice.

Ahhhh, Superduty, then I was way off base! Prior post was the Monty.
My Superduty, got a pair of Walmart batts; 65N (3 year warranty) 850 CCA bought this year as mine were original 2002 vintage.

A few years ago. about 3, we were fishing and one of the guys said his Die Hard battery was much better than any other trolling motor battery than any other battery he had ever used. I had a Walmart battery. The two batteries were identical. The molding marks were exactly the same. They came out of the same mold. Which means they came out of the same factory. The ratings were exactly the same. The only difference was the name on the battery. Neither Walmart or Sears make batteries. They have somebody make them. There are only a few places that actually make batteries. A lot of the products we buy are like this. My point is before you spend your money check out what you are about to buy. Do your homework

I hate homework!
That is exactly why I am posting here where there are many who do such things.
What was it? Intelligence is not knowing all the answers, but knowing how, or maybe where to find them?
Close, probably not 'Spot on', as the British say.
I will see if Walmart has the battery I desire. Thank you for your input.

Forgot the books when I went to school the next mourning and would have to go back home from school and get them...... Oh the good old days.. JB

Change the name, could have been my post..
If I would have studied, I might be able to spell and know the difference between a noun and a verb.. Good think I have a natural ability to know how things work, and how to fix them

Here in the North West (Canada) we buy all our batteries from Costco; made by/for Johnson Controls (Kirklands). They have an excellent warranty with no questions if there is failure and up to 84 months.
