DVD replacement

Our DVD player went "south" during our trip and rather than taking the whole Monty in, the service mgr said I could remove it and bring it in so they could order a replacement. He did mention to make sure that I marked the wires to make sure that when reconnecting I wouldn't screw it up.

I was able to get it turned around and after seeing how many cables and wires there were I am now a little concerned about how to mark them before disconnecting. Any suggestions?

yes , a little piece of tape on each wire marked 1 then 2 then 3 and so on. When you finish removing the DVD player go to Best Buys and get a good player as the Q 4000 is a piese of junk. I changes mine 4 times before I wised up and got a a good one from best buys no more problems

Labeling them 1, 2, and 3, without a map is not going to help putting them on a new player unless it is marked exactly the same as the old. To keep the markers small, do label them 1, 2, and 3, and then on a piece of paper - not to be lost - and label each marker on the paper as 1-audio left in; 2-audio right in; 3-audio left out; 4-audio right out; 5-video in, etc. That should get you in the right spot when you begin to reconnect.

As it is under warranty I didn't want to go out of pocket just yet. I'm on my way out now with pen, paper and tape.

hello, i just had the exact same thing happen! and yes, i was able to bring in ONLY the dvd player, thank goodness! i also marked all of the wires before i removed them. the way i did this was to take old address labels i no longer use, and fold it in half over the wire, about an inch or two before it ends, then get your glasses and read the little letter under where the wire is plugged in to. using a sharpie marker, write on your label what you see, and only do ONE wire at a time! i just got my unit back, took only ten days, and it was cake to hook it back up again! hope this helps!

take a picture of it with a digital camera. you will even be able to zoom in if you need to or put it on a computer

I disconnected the cables and marked them with masking tape identifying where they belonged. Fortunately we had plans to go out for dinner so I avoided, for now, marking the speaker wires. Some of the areas are marked and some aren't so the digital is a great idea.
