Slide out awnings

We have an 05 Monty 2955 and the large slide out awning is delaminating and peeling. When the wind blows anoth big piece flys off. Is this par for the course for these things or do we just have a bad one. The slideout is only extended about 4 months when we winter in Florida so that seems that isn't much exposure. Thanks.

Just a few months after we bought our 3585 (brand new), the largest awning started disintegrating. First it was just little rips of varying lengths along the edge by the door, but after getting on a ladder to take a closer look, I discovered random pinholes to toothpick-sized holes scattered all over that awning. Several areas on the top also looked frayed, as though something had rubbed hard on those spots. We never, ever parked our rig under a tree or under anything with an overhang, so how the "rubbed" spots got there is a mystery.

I checked the other 2 awnings; one had rips along both edges, however but no holes; the other one was fine--like new.

Snowbirds,

Sadly the fabric on these things only seems to last about 3 to 5 years. 4 months in Floirda, high sun rays, etc.n might be enough to set start the degradation.

Our slide topper fabric for the kitchen slide lasted bout 3 years?? the one over the living slide lasted another year.

So, far, we are good on the main awning.

The bedroom slide had new fabric put on at about 2 years at the service center.

We had heard that there was a bad batch of fabric, but the warranty is about a year??

We found on our 2003 Montana that four years and they were showing serious deterioration. This one will be three years old in August and is still looking like new. But another year or two....

Yes, that seems to be about the life of these things.
