Roof Vent Covers
I am looking at installing some MaxxAir Fanmate covers over my 3 roof vents. However, when I was at Camping World yesterday and I sat a display one on top of a roof vent similar to mine, I noticed the vent can not fully open. For those who have installed these, what does your vent do when it hits the newly installed cover as you open it? Before the Montana my roof vents were manual, but these are automatic.
Thanks

I installed Maxxair II's on mine. They open much more and vent area is bigger.

The manuals for the fans say this is perfectly fine. They are made to turn off when contacting something like the cover. I've had them on Fantastic Fans and MaxxFans alike with no problems.

One thing to think about. The skylight in your camper brings in a lot of heat. I got on top of mine, cleaned with Dawn and water, let it dry and then painted it with Gloss White Krylon spray paint. Now, all of the light still comes and NONE of the heat. I've done this mod on my last 4 campers.
Also, the vent covers we were talking about are black. I bought the MaxxFan covers and put them on and on a really hot day I shot the inside with a laser thermometer, then took off the black cover and painted it gloss white after sanding it. Put it back and waited about an hour and re-shot the same area with the laser. There was a 28* difference between the cover when it was black and then white. This was with the vents CLOSED. Just something to think about when trying to control the heat the unit.

Be Careful Which Vent Cover to Order.
We recently purchased a 2018 Montana 3701LK and one of the first things I ordered were the vent covers. I ordered the Maxxair II covers and gathered my tools and went to work. What I found out is there is 2 different styles of covers. The original style you have to drill holes, attach the brackets and pins and your done. The 2018 we bought has plastic mounts as part of the housing, so you would need to order the Maxxair FANMATE covers. All you have to do is set your FANMATE housing over the vent, put 4 pins through their slots and your done. I learned the hard way, but I cut the plastic mounts off and attached the covers like the original style with the brackets and all.

I like that idea. We hate the Florida sun beaming through the shower sky light. do you have a picture of the done product with the sun shining through to the inside?

How did you attach them. Is it a big job. Do you have to remove and replace caulking? I am thinking about getting them.

I am interested in the best way to replace mine also. They are UV damaged and brittle. I will be camping mostly in Alabama and Florida and I need to repel heat more than i'm interested in light from a skylight. I have seen the little covers that go over the top of the vent, but I'm not sure what your experiences have been. Any opinions?

I used the Maxxair 2 covers on my HC. EZ install and they mount to vent. No holes in roof! Plenty of travel for vent covers.
