2019 WESTERN REGION SPRING RALLY-White Elephant Gift Exchange

Hello all, Jerry and I are heading up the Gift Exchange that will take place on:
Tuesday evening, 25 June, starting at approx. 1830/6:30 pm following the potluck dinner.

We are asking that if you attend that you keep the limit spent to no more than $25. This year we are asking that you either bring an RV related item that can be used in an RV,
OR
gift cards/certificates that one could use for something to do. We have limited space in our 5th wheels and things to do are always appreciated such as coffee stands, restaurants, movie tickets, a major RV supplier or even Amazon for example.

We are asking that there be NO alcohol brought as an exchange as there are several non drinkers and we want everyone to walk away with a gift they can use.

Thank you and see you at the rally.

Speaking as one of the group who first started the "white elephant" gift exchange at the Buellton rally, We set it up for mostly outrageous "gag" gifts. It was a lot of fun! Can we still do that too?

I don't see why not; we want this to be a lot of fun. As long as it is in good taste.

I did not mention gag gifts because some may think they are funny and some might be offended. I am trying to think of everyone, not having anyone offended but all having fun. So if a gag gift is brought, it should not be offensive.

In todays world I am trying to think of the various ages and mindsets. I know that I will not make everyone happy. And I am also one to not do, "what we always have done or do". Sometimes it's fun and OK to change things up.

Thank you, take care, Laura Thorsell

When it comes to gag gifts, DW keeps me on a very short leash. I have to "sell " her on each one.

Well we started as anything goes (still in good taste) and then there were those that brought really nice and thoughtful gifts, but got crap. We changed to no gag and bring or buy something that you would like to receive. Not as much fun, but everyone leaves pretty happy and less whispering. We then would have a traders corner for those that kinda like what they got, but willing to consider a trade.

I remember those "dancing musical flowers"! It was so funny, must have been traded off 2 or 3 times, so they could be brought back the next year! Do you remember the "Beer drinkers Hard hat that Mel got one year? (two beer can holders set on both sides of the head with a long tube/straw that goes from the beer to the mouth? That went around like 5 times, so much fun.
I would have brought that this year, but haven't seen it in several years.

Since we can give "White Elephant, (gag) gifts", what I'll do, if I find one to bring is to also add in a gift card. That should be okay I hope?

Cal and I love the gag gifts, In good taste of course its always a hoot and a lot of laughs.. And If we get something we don't care for we save it and give it away at another White elephant some time at another rally some where else.. Its all in fun.
