"Slept through an Earthquake"
A little while ago my son asked me if I felt the earth quake. I was in the Monty sleeping today and I slept right through it. I didn’t even notice it at all. Some time back there was a thread on whether or not an RV might withstand an earthquake so I can say unless it’s a good one you might not even notice it.
Did anyone else feel it?

We felt it at work in Boone County, WV and Cathy told me they felt it at the house as well (Putnam County, WV). Once in a lifetime event and Bill sleeps through it, go figure!!!

After posting and I started watching the news I can see it was quite a significant event. Hope everyone did ok and didn’t receive any kind of damage.

Not too far from us in East-Central VA. Hardly felt it - just a few shakes - talked to a guy (in Richmond) who was stocking his wine racks in a wine shop and he said it rattled his "stock" but not much more. To hear some of the peeps tell it there were dump trucks falling into crevices. LOL

Our DIL in Ruckersville said it shook the whole house and rearranged a couple pictures on the wall and moved dishes in the china cupboard, no breakage

Work down the road in Richmond VA. Old Transportation Highway Building shook a little for 30-50 seconds however no biggie. I was talking with a co-worker on the phone who has an office next building over. I asked him if you felt that vibration and he said yes. Come to find out he was close to DC on a staff visit. Everyone thought is was a 18 wheeler slowing down. Put 2 and 2 together and figured that ain't no 18 wheeler!
Big question to us on the east coast is - how much wind can a Monty stand before it might start tipping'? Our major concern now is that young lady Irene. How much wind can a closed (slides in) 5er take before we might need to get some help.

I am in VA 20 miles east of Fredericksburg. I was outside working on the boat next to the Montana and felt the ground shaking, boat shaking, saw camper rocking and house shaking. A jet was going over at same time and I thought that was a long shockwave from it breaking the sound barrier.
Daughter called from work in second floor office 10 miles away and she had crawled under her desk. She didn't appreciate me laughing at that.
Wife and I were 12th floor hotel in LA about 15 years ago when one hit and we woke up to the noise of clothes swinging back an forth in the closet and the bed rocking back and fourth. We said guess it’s an earthquake and went back to sleep. Next morning the talk was, yea, just a little earthquake.
Guess it depends on where you live as to how you perceive them.

What a surprise. What's next? We don't see such things in N.C. Well just stick around and let's see if Irene will be a lady or something else.
