Louisiana, flooding? Baton Rouge

Yep, we are headed that way.

Any locals out there that can give us the REAL skinny on the current situation and what it is supposed to be like for the next 48 hours.

Weather bug and other reports I have pulled up on the net indicate there may be trouble in Baton Rouge tomorrow??

If, there is, is it likely that I 10 will be closed??

Not asking for guarantees here, just some educuated guesses by some in the area.

Thanks

Carol, I would think the Louisiana DOT might have an 800 number for road conditions. There are traffic cams located along I10 and I12 that you might want to look at. Perhaps they'll give you an idea what's going on. The traffic in BR can be as bad as Houston. After the influx of Katrina evacuees, the population exploded. We came through there from Destin last summer, and I12 across to I10 was bumper to bumper. As far as the flooding, certain areas of the town have always been flood prone, but I never recall I10 flooding.

SlickWillie,

Thanks for the feedback,

SO far, so good, we ended up near Lafayette LA for the night, nary a drip of tears from the sky all day long. Tomorrow 30 % chance of sprinkles.

I was told by people at the campground here, that I 10 over the ole Mississip, goes real HIGH, and should not be an issue, and they all acted surprised that I should even have heard of the flood warnings.

Oh, well, once ya have the weather tick, I guess you never get over it??
