we take delievery next week

hi all, well the paper work is almost done, our dealer sold our old 3670 and we take delievery of our new 3400RL next week. Plans are moving along to sell the house next Spring ... full timing in the class of 06 looks like a reality at last. so, are many of you full timing in a 3400 and any suggestions of modifications, etc?
i was a bit supprised when the dry weight came in at over 12,000 lbs.

We have an '05 3400 and love it. I lived in fulltime for 9 months when we first got it. We plan on going full time in the next couple of years. If you do a search, you find some of the modications people have made. Attend one of the rallys and during Show and Tell you can see them. We have several Washingtonites coming to the Mt. Shasta rally next May.
Happy trails..................

Hi Neighbors....our home base is Cheney, WA (Yogi Bear Campgrounds). Glad to see you are going to full time. It is a great lifestyle. We will be back in the area in the spring. Hope to meet you soon......Les and Sue

Congrats on the new 3400RL. Love mine and already cant wait to get it out of the garage and back down to Lake Roosevelt. As far as mods to the coach, I would get a washer and dryer installed, and would recommend the slide awnings also.

Congratulations, Grey-Ghost. We are excited for you and the others soon to be fulltiming. I'm not surprised at the weight. Been there. You'll also be surprised how much the gear you put in it weighs, too! The dry weight on ours according to the sticker on the cupboard door is 10,760. I did not weight it at delivery so don't know how close that is. Our actual weight for this thing is 14,360, per a CAT scale. That's as we tow it.

What an exciting way to spend the holidays, grey-ghost......prepping a new Montana. You're right about all the little additions that we make to a rig. Just increases their value, I think.

GreyGhost, That is a beautiful rig you are going to have. Make sure you check your tire pressure before you tow. I have a slow leak in one of my tires and last week I pulled my new 2955RL home with only 18 PSI in that tire. Best of luck and congratulations.

We have a new rig 3400RL as of Sept 2/05. Love it .. we got the washer/dryer prep but as full=timers we really love the extra closet space, rather than the actual washer/dryer. (fits our needs right now better). Also ordered the slide toppers and sure glad we did. Keeps the slide roof clean and dry. One thing we should have ordered would have been the electric awning as opposed to the normal manual... need a ladder every time we want to open/close it.. very inconvenient... maybe Santa will bring one..
The one thing we are unhappy with is the remote control for the furnace/a/c .. It is very hard to program and control...constantly manually changing the temp... too hot or too cold.... they mounted the sensor control just above the fireplace.. so it creates a false reading if you have your fireplace on ....
Our former 5er had the regular wall mounted thermostat and it worked just fine.....
Other than that everything has been cozy, comfy... hope this helps...
Dennis

dchafer, you will draw TONS of comments on your remote (do a search on "Remote"). Most are getting them replaced ASAP and I believe that Keystone, based on the overwhelming reaction from this MOC forum has now discontinued the remote and gone with a straight wall mount. I'm going to hurry and hit the "Post" button now, before I get run over!

I'm pretty sure the electric awning is an after market item and also pricey. I'm not sure what Dennis is talking about but he should not have to get on a ladder to roll out or roll up awning. I can do this by myself and have many times. And since I'm partially handicapped I do not get on ladders unless it is an extreme emergency. Camping World sells the electric awnings. Check them out.
Happy trails..................

Grey-Ghost - Congratulations on your 3400. We like ours very much and find it well designed for extended living. Make sure you check it all out as there are somethings that Keystone considers as issues that must be reported in the first 90 day period. For those of us that buy at this time of year (I purchased mine in November last year) and don't use their unit until warmer weather, can be problematic when trying to get minor thing repaired under warranty.

That is why we are not ordering the 3670 till Jan or Feb for delivery in March/April.Don't want it to sit in a snow drift for 2 or 3 months. If there are any MINOR issues need to have them addressed in the 90 day period..Parrothead..I am crushed that the electric awning is not a Montana option. Gray-Ghost (that was my CB handle) you will love the 3400.That was my choice because of the island kitchen and the location of the PC table. However Helen nixed the island kitchen and you know how that goes...
