Would love to stay near a beach on our way west. Any suggestions?

Check out Topsail Hill Preserve State Park near Destin, FL. (About halfway between Pensacola and Panama City Beach. You will not regret the stay. Reservations are through ReserveAmerica.com

Since you want to be near the beach, Topsail is an excellant choice and there are many others on Hwy 98 between Pensacola an Pananma City Beach. The steal of the decade is Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores Al. Stayed there last week, 470 premium spots with over 400 empty. Seems all the yankees heard that the gulf was an oily mess. Not true in this area.

TopSail would be my first pick but also over at Panama City you have St Andrews State Park that has sites where you back up litterly feet from the bay. There is a couple of sites 108 and 112 that you have your own private little beach right behind your camper. Plus they also have a nice swimming beach, you can watch the big ships come and go out of Panama City Bay heading in or out of the gulf.
TopSail is nice - when will you be there. We wlll be work Kamping there this summer for a couple of months.

HughM was staying at Top Sail when we were there last week Jo-Anna. It is one of the nicest State Parks we have seen but you are not on the beach... You have to take the shuttle to the beach that runs every hour. Beautiful spot.. St Andrews has the roads all torn up around it and we were glad we didn't have the Big Sky behind us when we drove there to see it.

See ya Saturday... Drive safely.

David and Jo-Anna, I know you've made reservations at Top Sail but FYI, a friend of mine loves this place in Navarre Beach. Here is a link. I have been told Holidays needed to be booked months in advance(12-18).

We just left TopSail last Wendesday. We didn't want to leave. We were in site 27 and it was tight getting into with a 35 ft 5th wheel. One campsite has a water fountain beside the campsite...First class operation. Nice and clean sea food market about 2 miles east of campground.

Thanks everyone! This is our 3rd night at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. This is one of the nicest places we have stayed and will certainly return.

It is by far our favorite park. We usually spend the week of Thanksgiving there, but held off on reservations this year due to the oil spill and not knowing what would happen. By the time we considered it again our normal spots (outside of the loop) were all taken. Myrtle Beach will be our substitute location for Thanksgiving this year. We will definitely miss Topsail!! Enjoy it David and Jo-Anna!!
Ohhh, almost forgot, you have got to have breakfast at the Donut Hole (about a mile from the park). Go hungry!! You will not be dissapointed there either!!
