Welcome Home Lights
Hi All, new here, we just bought a new 2010 3150RL from the Hershey show.
But now I have a question, the WELCOME HOME LIGHTS don't work. I checked the plunger at the door hinge and it seems to be OK. I pulled the panel where the toggle switches are off the wall and the wires are secured on the back of the CEILING LIGHT switch, but there is a white with orange stripe wire(that's part of a 2 wire combo) that's just dangling behind the panel. The other part of this combo is white and goes to the CEILING SWITCH.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, THANKS!!!!

Do the lights come on when operated by the wall switch with the door closed? If not, there are individual switches on each light that may be off. A couple of ours were when we first got it.

Thanks for the reply Dave, but the lights work fine from the switch on the wall. They just don't work from the door plunger.

Did you actually remove the plunger from the door and test with a meter? This switch is very cheap and may not be working.
Actually I noticed on some of the displays at the Hershey show having a new two pin contact switch versus the single plunger. Which do you have?

Hi John,
When you say two pin contact switch, am I correct to say you mean the actual switch on the wall? This switch is either on or off, there is not a 3rd position. this would make sense cause the sales person said you have to remember to put it in that position. But mine doesnt have a 3rd position.
I have not had a chance to check the plunger with a meter, and now its raining here, and suppose to be for the next 3 days....

On my unit the plunger switch is located a little lower that half way down the screen door. The "2 pin contact switch I seen at the show was on the screen door frame as well but mounted slighty lower, closer to the bottom. The new style has 2 exposed copper contact pads where the old style door switch has just the plunger exposed.

John,
Is your switch a 3 position or 2 position switch? Mine is just 2, on or off.
Mine has the old style plunger behind the hinge for the screen.
I just called a local Keystone dealer and he said they wont work on it cause it should have been fixed by the selling dealership when it was prepped.
I want to get the slide toppers installed, and the wet bolt kit too. This service person said WHATS A WET BOLT!!!!

That's dealer speak for "I don't want to mess with your problem because it's not worth my time.". I would either talk to the owner or Keystone. Or both. That kind of reply is bull crap.

Well, A BIG THANK YOU to JohnnyG for his assistance. We found that the white/orange wire from the plunger was not connected to the ON side of the toggle switch in the control panel. I stripped part of the coating off and put it onto the ON side of the switch, and DW opened the door and the lights came on.
Now to get another toggle switch and mount it next to the door frame to control if/when I want it to come on. Thanks to JohnnyG for this idea also.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
