2017 Ram Recall

2017 Ram pickups with the shifter on the column are being recalled due to a potential failure in the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) which would allow shifting out of Park without the key in the ignition.

More information:

The recall is mainly in North America and covers trucks with steering-column shifters. It includes certain 2010 through 2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and 2011 through 2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs. Also covered are 2016 and 2017 Ram 3500 chassis cabs under 10,000 pounds. Some 2009 through 2017 Ram 1500 pickups also are included.

Fiat Chrysler says the brake-transmission shift interlock can fail due to long-term heat exposure. That can let the shifter move from park even without a key in the ignition, increasing the risk the trucks rolling away.

I have a 2013 3500 and have had multiple recalls through the years. Waiting on fix for waterpump. I don't see how dodge has made any money on these trucks with all the recalls. Haven't had notice on your problem yet .

I just logged in to my Mopar owners site and did not see any recall for this issue. my truck is a 2500 2014 MY.

I think these recalls are a joke. Shift out of park haha. Water pump catch on fire what a load of bs. People want things to be fool proof and bullet proof they are not never have been never will be. Contact me when there is a REAL problem not some minor thing that has almost zero chance of happening.

It only up to the 2017 rams built before December of 2016. I have a 2017 ram that was built in may of 2017 and its not on the recall list. But all the recalls is why i traded in the 2013. it got old.

When Fiat/Chrysler admits they are aware of injuries that have occurred due to the defect, that appears to me to be a “REAL problem”.

If you now wish you had bought elsewhere just lookup Duramax DEF problems, or Powerstroke Problems.

Happy with my Cummins even with all the related recalls.

And I have to agree that slipping out of gear (where a vehicle could roll) and catching on fire are certainly what I would consider "Serious Issues"!!! There is always a potential for any vehicle to have issues of one sort of another but there is a big difference between something that will cause a vehicle to stall and something that could result in it rolling down a hill unattended or catching on fire!

Many thanks to those who brought these issues to my attention!

Recalls of any brand are something that should be posted in case an owner has not heard about it and can decide for themselves if it is important or not. And they have all had, and will continue to have, their recalls. A fact of life. But such a posting should not be cause for the owner of the posted brand to get defensive and post about recalls of the other brands.

Recalls

Go to: www.recalls.mopar.com

enter your VIN, the site will update you on recalls applicable to your specific vehicle
My 2015 Ram 2500 Cummins HD has the water pump recall outstanding, does not show any other recalls open
