Boston Area

Good morning folks!

Walt and I are planning a trip to the Boston area the end of May and into June. Does anyone have any recommendations for a campground? We plan on spending a lot of time in Cambridge, Boston, Braintree and Cape Cod. It needs to be friendly to our big Montanas and also allow pets.

Thanks.

Lynne

Our first camping trip with our first pop-up we stayed at Normandy Farms in Foxboro. We liked it a lot, and I remember that it was an easy commute to town, etc. from there. It looks like it still has really good ratings.

If you like history there is the Boston Minuteman Campground in Littleton MA. You would be about 30 miles from Boston with easy access via highway or railroad. You will also be close to Minuteman National Park in Concord and Lexington where the 1776 revolution started. Lots of history around here. Not sure about pets etc. but we have visited with fellow MOCers at the campground and they seemed to like it. http://minutemancampground.com/

We stayed at Minuteman and found it very convenient to all the things to see. They even had info about where to meet the bus for a city tour and we also took the train to downtown one day.

We stayed at MinuteMan RV Park and it was very nice. Great location for the historic area. We took the train into downtown Boston from the town near the park. Then picked up one of the tour companies to see the sights. We did this over Labor Day and things were busy but we got to see everything we wanted. For Cape Cod, we moved to Atlantic Oaks in Eastham. Then we drove to all the interesting places. Don't forget to visit Salem while at Minute Man--really interesting! Check our trip journal for photos and other details. Any questions, send me an email.

It was 7 yrs ago, but Minuteman RV Park served us well. Convenient to all the historical stuff you want to see. We walked all over Boston. Cheers was a big disappointment.

Normandy Farms is considered one of the best campgrounds in the country (or it used to be). It is between Boston and Providence RI, just off Rt.495 and very close to Rt.95. Rt.495 will get you to the Cape, like you want. Rt.95 will take you north toward Boston and Braintree. I think it's a more central campground than Minuteman would be, when you consider Cape Cod as well as Boston. Braintree is on the South Shore of Boston. Normandy is your best bet, IMO.
