Glen's off to Fairbanks to get our truck

Of course, it's not fixed yet. But they have traced the part to Anchorage and expect it to arrive in Fairbanks this afternoon. I told Glen he probably should take his toothbrush but he chose to remain optimistic. They expect to get the part and have it fixed this afternoon. If that is the case, we'll be off tomorrow morning, heading south. We'll make it to Seward on Sunday, Lord willing, in time for our reservations there. Praise the Lord!

Oh, Steve, you are toooo optimistic! It's only 2:30 here in Alaska and Glen is only an hour down the road. We expect him to arrive in Fairbanks about 4:30, get picked up by the Dodge dealer, and then get the truck. He'll have a three hour drive back to Denali so if he arrives by 9:00 (midnight Central time) we'll be thankful.

Thanks, everybody, for your support. It has helped us so much in dealing with our frustration. We know that we're right where we're meant to be but we're ready to move on.

Thank you to everyone who was feeling our pain. Our baby is back home. Glen drove up about 8:00 pm after only a small delay for a mommy moose and her baby who decided to be in the middle of the road on his trip from Fairbanks. Greta was glad to see her truck! It performed flawlessly on the drive south. The papers all say 'contaminated fuel' per their fuels specialist. Maybe they could tell from the filters, etc. Glen said he was rather uneasy about putting diesel in the tank again but everything worked well. Tomorrow we head for Seward and hopefully we'll have lots of fish stories to tell. Thanks for all your prayers and you can uncross your toes.

What an experience..Good luck from here on.Note..I drive diesels every day, School bus and. charter bus and I fuel buses every day. I ALWAYS check the fuel for color and smell.Don't know why but the chances of bad diesel fuel are WAY higher than bad gasoline/Had a case here a couple of years ago where gas got in a diesel tank and folks filled up their space heaters, several were injured and several fires. Always check your fuel...always check your fuel.

Rich, Glen does notice the fuel and felt that this looked and acted like diesel, foamy, etc. We don't think that there was much diesel but enough to cause a problem. All we can go by are the experts at the Dodge dealer. If there was a high percentage of gasoline much more would have been damaged.

The exploding space heaters incidence does sound awful.

A diesel guy at the bus garage told us that it does not take much gas in diesel to to a lot a damage. The gas dilutes the diesel and effects its lubricating capacity, among other things. It could have been much worse..Someone was at fault and caused you guys a lot of time/trouble and money.I was not insinuating that you did not check the fuel just pointing out the importance of checking diesel fuel and how common bad diesel fuel can be.There has to be a string of broken down Diesels that fueled at the same place..I know that you want to put this behind you and enjoy your trip but it is not right that someone made the mistake and you and others have to pay so dearly for it.
