My first problem with my under awning LED strip.
It's got about 4 hours on it so far. Yesterday, the remote wouldn't do anything. When I turned it on (I wired it into my porch light) it turned on ok, but was stuck on one color, one brightness and I couldn't get it to do anything else. I took the remote to another light strip I have in the house, and that light strip responded to the remote just fine. I took the other light strip's remote outside to the Montana, and again no response. So, it was obviously the controller, not the remote.
I turned the lights off and on a couple times, but no change.
Later last night, I tried again, and this time it worked properly.
Oh brother...Here we go.

Not sure where you are, but around here that controller would be super hot in the afternoon. Could it just have been affected by the heat and then began to operate correctly when it cooled down?

I am having some problems with mine also. I unplugged them from controller and power and them plugged them back in and then the remote worked again. I am still having some problems with some of the strip being a different color than the rest of the strip. I think that this is one of those things that you get what you pay for. Inexpensive strip from China

Did you seal the joint between the white controller and the power wire? If not , check it for water , seal it with silicone.

Also if you used the plugs on the to extend the wires to the controller use some silicone grease at the connectors as the contacts corrode easily.
Russ if you are talking about individual lights then the led is bad. If segments are different I've seen broken foil in the strip cause that, it can be repaired.

The first thing I would ensure is your remote can see the IR sensor part of the white box.
Safe travels.
