OKLAHOMA HELP

Camped here in Phillipsburg MO, heading to Choctaw OK tomorrow. We were going to take I-40 all the way through Oklahoma (tolls). Now I am thinking of getting off I-40 at US RT 69 in Oklahoma and taking that south to I-44, then I-44 west to Choctaw Road where our next CG is located. Has anyone ran US RT 69 with their Montana in that area? It looks okay on my atlas.

It has been awhile but that would be the Big Cabin exit there will be a toll plaza before that exit and then when you get off you go thur another toll booth a they will refund the difference (be sure to keep your receipt from the first booth) now back to your question US 69 is a four lane road that is easy to run tho there will be towns that you run through that have stop lights but a good way to go

Thanks ALSAN, from looking at my Trucker's Atlas and computer mapping I figured as much but it sure takes the worry out of trying it when someone else has experience to share. Thanks for the info.

You actually got your numbers reversed. You would go south from I-44 to I-40 on US 69.

It has also been a number of years since I have been on US 69 but was a good route then. But the last time I towed from OK City to MO I just took I-44 all the way and paid the $19 or so toll. Annoying as it was it made the drive simpler and faster.

As a retired trucker may I suggest you NEVER use this as the basis of making a final decision on routing! Don't ask me how I know, but I .......sniff-sniff......know.

You are correct, I posted wrong. We actually are in a CG on I-44 (Phillipsburg MO) and needing to cut down to I-40 today. WeBeFulltime, I use the new Rand RV Gps and I like to consult my Truckers Atlas the night before for low clearances and such. Are you saying that they are a waste of money? Would like to hear more because they are not cheap if you buy one every year or so.

US 69 was okay. Some of the pavement needs replaced. But I-40 and I-44 in Oklahoma all needs repaved, or at least most of it.

Didn't want to bad mouth your state, actually I-40 west from Oklahoma City to Texas state line was better pavement. We did find that everyone in Oklahoma were very friendly, at CG's, stores, truck stops, everywhere.
