Atwood range/stove cleaning

Finally found how to remove the "cover" below the "grill" on top of stove to clean after droppings found their way down. Now have rust spots on the metal where the sparker wires/ gas lines go to the burners. Used steel wool to remove rust spots. What should you use to help prevent more rust like rust-oleum. Need something that will resist heat and inhibit rust. First order of business is to do better job of cleaning! Prefer something stainless steel color. Have some rust-oleum for grills but is black and not sure should use this on an indoor stove. Supposedly withstands heat up to 1200 degrees however maybe too close to the gas flame. Thanks,

I have used the High-Heat paint for auto engine exhaust headers back in the day. It held up well.
Rust-Oleum has several colors available. (I see a Satin-Silver at HD.)
