Cracked Shower Pan

Just found two cracks in the shower pan about 4 inches long. We aren't in any one place for awhile and have no dealer. Has anyone used that flex stuff that is advertised on TV to fix a boat to repair the pan. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. We aren't fix it type people so the fix needs to be easy.

I have used the flex seal in another application that would be comparable to you shower fix, I used the spray flex shot. The main issue is making sure the area is clean and dry. Use something like rubbing alcohol to clean the area, the make sure it is completely dry and then apply the flex shot following directions. Another way which would be effective but a little cosmetically unsightly would be to use some 80 grit sandpaper and rough the area up and clean it then mix and apply JB WELD epoxy, it will be grayish/black but will hold either way should last until you can get it in somewhere, JB Weld may last forever lol.

Fiberglass showers are used in regular homes also. In our old rig, I ordered a repair kit from Amazon. Had I been near a town I would have picked one up at a hardware store.

Bill and Jan-- Check to see if you can find an auto repair place or a boat retailer that has a repair facility and ask their opinion of possibly patching the fiberglass. IF you can patch it, maybe you can patch it enough to last until you get to the Fall Rally and that could be on your list to give to the techs there. Usually the cracking is a sign of lack of support under the shower pan. I have heard here on the Forum of folks that sprayed the expanding foam up into the hole where the shower drain comes through the floor. You do have to watch this because if it expands to much it will make the floor pan rise and create a hump in the middle and not drain. DQ Dick has an idea but check with a shop like I mentioned above to see if it is possible to temp fix it. Let us know what you find out and we'll see you in Sedalia!

Some Eternabond tape should do the trick. Find an RV parts store or order from Amazon.

Before you do a bunch of repair work and spend the time, make sure that there is support under that pan. Other folks have found it to be missing on their Keystone products. Our S&B original cast iron tub had a concrete pad for a support, the replacement 'glass unit has treated wood

Now, that question on how to access under there ---- no clue on yours but possibly from the basement side by following the drain and either hole sawing a hand size hole or by enlarging the drain hole. From that point, you do whatever is needed

On our 2005, had a three inch crack extending from the drain. After warranty period of course. Filled the crack with a close matching color bathtub repair kit from Home Depot. Adhered with no problems. Patch was still there when we swapped rigs in 2010.

2012 Montana high country sower pan replacement

Replacement shower pan for Montana fifth wheel high country. Were to buy? I will be replacing it. Do I have to replace wall panels or can I reuse existing panels?

Remove the basement wall and try to get under the pan where the drain pipe comes out. Use spray foam with the nozzle and straw to put foam between the pan and the subfloor to prevent the pan from flexing and cracking again. Reach far enough in so the foam doesn't come back out the drain access hole. You don't need a lot of foam. It expands a lot. Do a test spray on a piece of cardboard and leave it overnight so you get an idea how much it expands.

Hi, We had the same problem in our garden shower pan and I just went and got some fiberglass resin and glassmatt and it is now stronger than before. If you don't mind the brown color of the resin this would solve your cracking problem.

Andre, you can use the same panels. Mine were held in place by double sided tape and the plastic rivets. My neo angle tub/shower base was ordered through LaMesa RV. My glass enclosure had to be removed first and it is a single piece unit. Plastic wall unit is easy to replace, just take your time in separating it from the wall/s. If your tub has a seat in it...make sure to make sure it is level or slightly sloped for water run off before putting everything back in place.
