Hey it looks like you are off to a great start. Here is ha thread showing some pictures on how I did ours. It may give you some ideas. I took apart the surrounding cabinet it came in and used that for the finished work. I bought one board for the mantle to finish it off.

Looks very nice, I am glad we have one, it is used most of the time. I have taken it out and cleaned it and also checked screws to make sure they were tight.
