Ours ran hot and then quit after 60 days because packing material was left on the cooling unit when it was installed. Keystone replaced, I added a 4 inch fan in the bottom outside vent, and a circulation fan in the frig itself. Has been running great and trouble free for six months now.

I've been keeping a record of temps since it last time it messed up. Has worked perfectly for 13 days with temps staying at 34-37 with only a couple instances of 38 and 39. Last night, the temp raised to 43. So - It's not that the refer CAN'T cool down, it's that it occasionally gets too warm. Since we haven't moved since we got to our lot in Central FL on August 6th, I can't blame it on levels, temps and sun on the side of the fiver. Those things haven't changed. (Other than that it is cooler and less humid.)

Fire5er - I watched it videos and will go check the drain and wire colors.

1retired06 - Since the unit is 14 months old and hasn't quit, I'm pretty sure it's not a packing material issue. I will, however, check it out.

Thanks, everybody, for all your help and suggestions.

Okay - Checked. No packing insulation left in during installation nor stripes on the wires for the heating element. All four fans work and really push a lot of air out the top vent. I think we just have a dud.

Steve and Gina,
Our 09 two door Dometic in a slide also had trouble cooling. Fan was cycling on/off on a 98 degree day, also the Thermistor ohm out at 8700ohms in cup of ice water. I call the factory and was told my unit has a preset Temp Range of 38 to 44 degree. After a little research a found a Thermistor Adjuster by Dinosaur Elec. This really help in keeping the Refrig. at 34 to 38 Degree.

Thanks, lestx. Since ours had 5 different temperature settings, doesn't that mean it's not "fixed?" I've been online and can't seem to find the answer. Besides - our temps vary from 34-38 on the 12-14 days it is working right. 47-49 on the day to day-and-a-half that it's not.

I did a quick look at mine out of curiousity. When you look in the top with the vent cover removed, you should see a curved metal air deflector the width of that vent at the top of the unit. And on mine, there is also a panel that covers the bottom part of the vent opening up to about the mid point between lower and middle vent exit holes on the cover. It was 70-72f all during the time when I measured temps with cloud cover...so no direct sun. Temp just inside top holes was 128f. Pulled bottom vent out and temp out top vent stayed the same. Put a low cfm fan at bottom to blow air up into cavity and top temp dropped to 90f. Opening/closing fridge doors caused top vent temp to go up to 100f and then slowly drop back down to 90f. Also removed top vent cover to see what would happen and temps dropped from 120's to 90 range as expected. All this says more airflow helps. I did not look at inside fridge temp when I did this check. I WILL do this when back in florida at the first of november using a remote temp sensor in the fridge to see how numbers look. John

Great info John. Look forward to your findings on inside temps when you play with outside vents and fans.
