Brake adjusters??

when we got our monty in the fall of 2011 I pulled all four wheels and did a bearing repack and adjusted all wheel bearings. Yes it was brand new , but I don't trust the factory workmanship. I need peace of mind as I travel down the road. Anyway our unite was in a permanent site all last year so very little highway use. So this year I know I just need to jack it up and check the bearing adjustments and check the brake adjustments. All bearing were still in perfect adjustment, but when I took off the little plastic caps to adjust the brakes I didn't see the star wheel to turn, all that i could see was a spring. Does this mean the brakes are self adjusters? the spring looked like it was pushing the shoes apart.
