Who did it? Replaced their living room TV.
Someone posted some time not too long ago about replacing their living room TV. I seem to remember the new one was larger than the old one and did not fit into the existing opening. Rather than enlarge the opening, they installed it on a new telescoping bracket that allowed it to be pulled out or pushed back against the front surface of the cabinet. And they used I seem to remember to be a double armed bracket to hang it.
I am considering a larger TV and think that is the best way to do it. And I like the idea of the double arm bracket as it appears it would be more sturdy than the single arm ones. Just wondering how that has held up in travel.
Sound familiar anyone? Searched but could not find the thread.

Bill I changed both of mine to flat screens a 32" in the living room and a 22" in the bed room. In the LR I have a slide out swivel that had the old tv mounted on it so I got 2 brackets from lowes and mounted it on the turn table flush againt the frame one of the other guys mounted his on the double arm bracket. I think I still have pics on here somewhere.

Our Install
Not sure if that is what you want - -
It rode from SE Michigan to Gulf Shores beautifully, that velcro held!
Good luck on your install.

here is how I did mine. The mount for the TV is not shown but is just a wall mount (non swivel) that I picked up at Wal Mart and mounted on the plywood shown in the photo. We take the TV down when traveling and lay it on the bed.

good luck,

Thanks, Carol. That is the one I was remembering.
And Phil, that looks like a good way to do it also.
Now to make a decision.

We went with a 32" flat screen in the living room, on a fully articulating mount. Email me if you want pictures. It's been in place for four years and we've had zero problems with the mounting arrangement. The fully articulating mount allows access to all that potential storage space behind the tv. It also allows us to watch tv while doing dishes in this 3400RL and still see it just fine from the living room at the same time.

We went with a more drastic solution, rather than go to the trouble of modifying the rig to replace the analog tube tv's with flat screens, we decided to opt for just getting a new 40" flat screen for the living room and a smaller new one for the bedroom. The drastic part was that the tv's came equipped with completely new surroundings, new decor, new floorplan, etc.. I would not recommend this approach for everyone, but it is an option that may warrant consideration.

Hmmmmm! That does sound like a drastic (and expensive) option. I may have to put that one on the back burner for a while.
