Awning Light Attachment

The A&E awning on or Montana has a groove for the rubber hangers to which a metal hook can be placed to hang lights. If I take of the metal hooks when done, can you roll the awning up with the flexible rubber mounts still in place or will it hurt the awning material?

Getting ready for Memorial Day Weekend!

Thanks!

There is a type that is cloth and an S hook goes through them. They are okay to roll up with the awning after the S hook is removed. Camping World has them. The rubber ones will make pokes in the awning. We used the cloth ones for years and had no problems from rolling them up with the awning.
Happy trails......................

I agree. I have the rubber ones with metal hooks. I always remove all the rubber hangers before I role up the awning. The awning will last a lot longer that way.

I have the rubber ones and just remove the metal hooks. Roll up the rubber part with the awning. Haven't noticed any problems yet and this is a 2001 original awning.

I routinely wash the awning and am careful to keep it aired out and try not to roll it up wet. If I do have to roll it up wet to move, I unroll it as soon as possible. Sun, moisture, mold and mildew can shorten their lifespan more than the rubber hangars. In my opinion!

I have the cloth ones. I take out the S hooks and roll them right up. No problems. The plastic ones seem to make dimples in the awning fabric and I think they will eventually wear through.
