Nissan Titan pulling a 37 foot....
12,000 pound Salem 5th wheel. This Nissan has a rated towing capacity of only 9200 pounds. This rig is sitting just 3 sites over from me. He must have installed the hitch in the truck himself as I can't believe the dealer that sold him the 5th wheel would take on such a liability. Talk about an accident waiting to happen. I just hope he ain't behind me when he has to stop in an emergency.

Will have to agree, ask him when he is leaving and where he is going next. I want to be heading the other way.

Don't want to be traveling on or near him when that accident happens!!!! I wonder if he even thought about the liability that he is towing, let alone the other people on the road that will be caught up in the mishap too???? GO THE OTHER WAY!!!!YIKES!

What is he thinking? Safety must be a word that is not in his vocabulary.

That's like the customer that asked me if his Dodge caravan would pull a 8,600 lbs Coachman..I said sure..about 3 feet.
E gad..the pin weight on that setup would be enough to straighten out the springs. What did he have holding the rear end up??????

I would like to see what his dealer will have to say when he needs warranty work done on that truck.
I wonder what the frame construction on the Nissan is like? Never mind bearings, springs and the rest of the driveline components.
Aparently he's never heard of the [G(Combined)VWR] or Axle ratings.
Some RV dealers will install anything for a sale. Who is legally responsible when an accident occurs.
You mean I could of kept my 1/2 ton truck for my 3255.
But wait He's got a tow/haul mode on the tranny.
And maybe he's got the 33 inch off road tires.
Realistically HE should read this web site.
Towing Guides 2005
http://www.trailerlife.com/output.cfm?id=962029
It is in everyones best interest. If he finds out about these resources.
He should also read
http://www.rverscorner.com/articles/...gulations.html
This is an NHTSA brochure large PDF document
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/proble...ing/Towing.pdf
And another excellent tutorial

He was already set up in the site when I arrived. When I got a chance to go over and visit they were gone in the Nissan but the 5er was still there. We never did get to meet them.
I would really have loved to had a photo with the 5er hitched to the Nissan. I will say that the truck was jacked up and had oversized tires but jacking it up and over sizing does not change the trucks capabilities to carry such a load. It does nothing for the brakes, the springs, frame, etc,
Just saw a Nissan Truck commercial. They said "the Nissan truck is tough, powerful, inovated". Guess this guy is out to prove them right.

I would love to have a pic if you get one. I was telling my step dad about this as he has a Nissan p-up and was telling me how he had trouble pulling a 6x10 enclosed trailer 10 miles from where he bought it to there house. I was talking to him about your siting and he laughed and said there is no way he could pull anything like that with his.

those trucks take a beating, but I wouldn't do it! I have no doubt it would tow it, but I would be interested in seeing it being towed...from somewhere safe anyway.

Having learned the hard way about not having enough truck, I really feel sorry for the guy. Glenn, too bad there's no way for you to show him that video with the car & trailer rolling backwards down the hill that was on a thread a while back.

Some people just don't get it. The first time he has to stop in a hurry I think he'll figure it out...I hope. If he doesn't he'll be whiping his face off the windshield.

I just ran into an ad two days ago that stated that the Nissan Titan had a GVWR of 9400 lbs. That peaked my curiosity as that is the same as the Chevy/GMC 2500HD D/A that many are using as a tv. I spent a while trying to locate GCVWR and axle ratings, but couldn't find any. After a few attempts, I gave up, figuring that the manufacturer had no intention whatsoever of ever promoting this vehicle as a tv for a 15,000 # (loaded) 5ver. You'd have to show me some REAL STOUT numbers on this truck before I tried such an "experiment".
