Power cord issue

During our last trip I noticed that the outer coating of the power cord has pulled back out of the molded plug(distance of an inch). I'd noticed that the outer coating was pulling back from the power connector to the rig(more than an inch). Our friends with a Forest River said they had the same problem with theirs and the dealer replaced it. Has anyone else noticed this?

Ours did this also. The dealers tech guy said they all do. However, when we had a recent electricall problem and had to call a serviceman to come out (it was a loose pole in the plug), he said it shouldn't be that way and fixed it. Not sure how long it will last but we will let you know. I'm sure the weight of this cord has something to do with it.
Happy trails..................

I repaired mine cut a little of the lead off added some heat shrink tubing now more of the jacket is in the plug. Keep the OEM as a spare purchased a replacement with molded plugs and strain releif

I have repaired mine also and kept the wires much shorter. It is starting to show just a bit already so need to try again. There is quite a bit of weight on the cable hanging from the back of the trailer. Will look into the heat shrink fix or another type of sleeve that has a collar to hold into the plug.

I understand the connector at the trailer, my concern was that the molded male connector is separating.

I had a problem with the male end getting hot and low voltage. I bought a replacement male end at Menard's and now it stays cool and better voltage. Larry & LaVonne

Most of the Montanas exhibit this same problem. It is really easy to fix. Simply take the connector apart, and trim/strip the required matrial from each of the wires. Re-assemble and ohm out the cable. Took me about 10 minutes to fix mine.
