I wound up placing a one inch hole about six inches wide in behind the TV set for re-circulation of the air. It would have been best if I had done this before the installation of the fireplace. Don’t ask me how I know that!!!

Well since you insist I was drilling a one inch hole with a drill bit using a cordless hand tight chuck and I lost the drill bit into the third hole. I neglected to tighten the bit with the chuck as much as it should have been.. Rather than remove what I had already fixed I converted the holes into slots. I figured the extra ventilation would be good anyway. After this I was able to retrieve the drill bit using a magnet on a string. I also removed any and all residue saw dust that I could see but it would have been much better had I done all this before the final installation. I’m sure no one else has ever done anything like that before have they?

Very nice job, Im just going to frame mine out but I like the fancy work looks like it was a custom install, well I guess it was.....lol

The heat from the fireplace, would make the wood hot in just 30 mins. Were the flat screen tv sat. I pulled the fireplace out. I bought some cement mason board, used spacer and long bolts left it hang about 3/4" down away from the top that made about 3" or 4 " between the board and the fireplace. It made a world of differance, the wood above gets a little warm but takes a few hours and we only use it to take the chill out of the front room, so its not on more than a few hours.

We’ve went out one weekend so far and really enjoyed the fireplace. I especially enjoyed the clear plastic material from Wal-Mart that we placed on the screen door. With this we left the big door open most of the time and the inside of the camper stayed nice & cozy with the fire place. It doesn’t seem to put out very much heat but it’s just enough to knock the chill of the room and keep the furnace from running as much.

The only thing I don’t like about our camper is it doesn’t have a large window like so many others have. Using the main door and leaving it open makes up for that just a bit.

Great Job Bill....I am quite handy with woodworking so I hope to put something like yours in place. I like the idea of the fibre board above to keep the heat away from the TV. I just have one question about the electrical. Do you have any problems with overloading the circuit with the TV and pheripherals plugged in as well as the fireplace?

That was on our previous camper. At the time I traded it in I hadn’t had any problems with it tripping off unless there was additional loads on the circuit.
