Wow, this is a little more info than I thought at first... You could play around with this all night. Who would have thought Nebraska was ranked that low for retirees?

Where's Paul (jpkelpe)? Everyone who lives in Calif knows going in the tax challenges... but Nebraska?

Dave-- We're known as the "tax State" since we get taxed to death here! If it weren't for the grandson here we'd move out of this tax burden! See everyone in Goshen!!

Ron, forgot that is your state, too. Pretty oppressive taxes. Nebraska must be rich?

Dave-- Not according to the State coffers! They seem to be running close to in debt nearly every year and we also have the powerball lottery and about seven or eight scratch-off and daily and weekly lotteries also. Never seems to be any money anywhere and they need to raise the taxes again! Oh well, life is good if you're retired but not when they tax everything you have and earn!

Thanks for this post.

I think I have been paying to much in taxes. (missing some deductions).

They didn't mention Maine's high excise tax. It really hurts.
