A Great Shortcut

We left Fort Chiswell today heading north on I-77 headed for I-79 which starts just north of Charleston WV. My Garmin kept routing me on a different road. So I zoomed in on the road and discovered that it was a divided highway. US 19. Instead of having to go all the way west to Charleston and then back track east on I-79 we just went north on 19 and saved a good 70 miles and several dollars in tolls. 19 is a very good road with about a dozen stop lights in 75 miles. The road was not anywhere as rough as I-64/77 and we didn't have to brave the insane traffic in Charleston,WV. I will take that road again if we ever head back that way... Dave and Betsy

That`s the way we go all the time. It is a good road. See you tomorrow in Byron. Where are you staying tonight?

Drew we are staying at the Washington PA. KOA, right next to the interstate but it is a bit of needle threading to get here. The turn off 40 has a power pole right at the curb so you have to wait till oncoming traffic on 40 is passed and then swing wide. A nice park but still want to get up there soon... Dave and Betsy

We live 25 miles north of Pittsburgh and will be leaving early. I79 is very short distance from our house. We may see you along the way.

Friends of ours from western NY use 19 every year tarveling to and from Florida. Lorraine and I have never had the need to but you can bet we use use 19 when the need arises.
