We made our annual trek from PA to sunny Florida this week. When we left home temperatures were in the mid 30s to mid 40s. We stopped for the night in South Carolina and the Montana was dripping wet inside. I mean water dripping down the mirrors and even the silverware inside the drawer was wet. The furnace igniter didn't work. We turned on the fireplace and I used my hair dryer to dry things out. After the camper was dried out, the igniter worked and everything has been fine ever since. We have been wintering in Florida for 4 years and this is the first time this has happened. Do we need to turn the furnace on for a few days before we leave? Any other solutions? Thanks all!

Never heard of such a thing .Condensation yes but nothing like you describe. Could the inside of the RV been frozen or very cold then thawed as you moved South.

We live in southwestern PA and the temps in December definitely dipped below freezing many days. The day we left was warmer (mid 40s) and when we stopped in SC it was 62 with torrential rain. No leaks in the Monty - it was definitely condensation.

Running the AC will remove moisture, shouldn't take to long to remove. Probably want to run the heater and fireplace at the same time. Like in your cars and trucks the AC will run in the winter to remove moisture usually when on max defrost.

Have seen that happen way back when we still stored our camper at home during the winter. It would get very cold inside then when we would get a warm up everything would melt causing condensation.

I think that is what happened to you .The conditions were just right.

I experienced this when I pulled my buddy's Montana out of a Mine after winter storage into warm summer temps. Condinsation as you described

Had similar experience with a TT. Learned early on even when in storage to leave roof vents slightly open. Stagnant air freezes and once it is frozen it thaws to water.

That has happened to us as well, although to a lesser degree.

Agree you need to leave your roof vent cracked open.If you have a cover over your roof vent then you could leave it opened more than just a little.
