Quiet Toilet Seat

I didn't know if to put this here our under Improvements.
My wife has yelled at me for many years about dropping the toilet seat and making the crash noise when the two surfaced bang together, it is so loud it could wake up the neighbor.
This summer I am working seasonal/part time at Home Depot, in the plumbing area.
The other day a lady was looking for a toilet seats, I was assisting her and I got studying them.
Well, Bemis make a toilet seat that is QUIET CLOSE, well that peaked my interest.
So I bought one and installed it.
Works great, no more banging noise and I don't get yelled at.
Try one at HD.

There are a few of us that have installed the Bemis seat for the quiet close, and the quick removal for cleaning, it works as advertised.
I have been thinking about the stick house next when they have to be replaced in the future.

The one that I bought for the stick-house last year at Home-Cheapo was $50.

At that price, until we go longtime or fulltime, the DW will have to put up with the occassional "Slam-Bang" (thank you Ma'am!)

Will check out Costco, although at ~$15, I doubt that it is one with Bemis quality.

Have one of those seats for the house. Just one thing you have to remember. At home you push the seat and it goes down nice and quite, you get use to it. Now you are at friends house, they dont have those type and you go to push the seat down like a home.... BAM

My wife understands that the seat has 2 positions, up and down, no problem she can lower it just as I can raise it. That is one of the smaller problems in life.

I like the cheap fix: take a few extra seconds to slowly guide the seat cover to its closed (and unlocked) position. No noise and no bucks spent.

If it would stop me getting yelled at it would worth $15.00. Heck I might even pay for the $50.00 seat. After 37 years, I think I'll just save my money, if it's not the seat, it would be something else !!LOL

we have the Bemis in the Casa now. They have a few models and most are the type that you can easily remove for cleaning and that one is about $15 at Home Depot. we opted for the "quiet" model where the toilet seats closes slowly and quietly. that one cost around $35. Well worth it.

After a few days, life is good.
The seat was about $35.00, some say that is too much money.
After almost 34 of marriage and living full time in the 5th wheel for almost 5 years.
It was a good investment, I may of once bought her flowers, but now if I did, boy the Crap would hit the fan.

Went to Costco today.

They said, "Yeah, we had those a while back, they were very popular and sold out quickly. Don't know if we will have them again, we might get one back as returned merchandise." .....You betcha, like I'm going to buy a used toilet seat that someone brought back!

Checked their online store, ....no luck.

I find this thread quite entertaining , and was reading the replies to my DW, when I come across yours, and read it to her, and she reminded me of what happened about 33 years ago, she was eight months pregnant with our second son, I left the seat up, she got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, there was a loud scream, and my wife sitting with her butt in the water. being off balance a little ,and pregnant there was no stopping the sit down until she hit bottom. She understands the two positions, and so do I, and the position it remains in when not in use is in the down position. At the time this happened it was one of the big problems in life. We are able to look at it now with a little humor, but at the time there was nothing too funny about it.
