Good electrical gremlins for a change

To say that electricity is a complex creature is perhaps the understatement of the century. I recently posted about the benefits of the Hughes Autoformer and the warranty coverage. At our last outing last year at Thanksgiving in Destin, FL, it appeared that the autoformer had lost one side of the two hot feeds. When connected, one side worked, when disconnected, both worked. So we finally get to go camping this year and I figured I might as well double-check the Autoformer before spending $50 for the shipping to obtain the warranty coverage. Lo and behold, the daggone thing works correctly. The bad electric gremlin had been displaced by a good one. I am sure that somehow, it is ground related (most electrical problems are). There is no way to check since everything is now working properly, but regardless, I am happy that the proper functionality has returned!! Now we are truly ready for the Va - Mid-Atlantic Rally in a month!!

That's good news, Bingo. Do you have a tester? My tester was just a few bucks, at Walmart. Before connecting the rig or autoformer I check the park's power. It shows me an open ground or other problem. Only a couple of times have I discovered bad power but in both cases we arranged to move to a different site and were able to discover the problem before disconnecting the rig.

Maybe it had something to do with the [s]humility[/s] humidity that was causing the problem while you were in FLA.

Steve,
I rely on the EMS for testing purposes, but in my installation the Autoformer is before the EMS. After the autoformer was unplugged, everything was fine on the EMS. I will stick to the story of bad electrical gremlins for now??
Bill,
You may be onto something with the humility diagnosis, I was camping with a rig full of women (DW, 2 daughters, and another adopted for the week female friend of the youngest daughter) at the time!!!!

Bingo, I have developed gremlins also when using my autoformer and the EMS behind it. Seems the EMS will cut out saying low power even though the autoformer seems to be boosting the power. I have had to put the EMS away for now and just use it when checking the power pedestal initially. I would really like to get this electrical thing under complete control eventually.....Hopefully you don't have the same gremlin.......
