Montana King Bed

Does anyone know the dimensions of the king bed in the Montana 3400RL? Also, what do I sacrifice by putting in the king as far as space?

The king bed is 16" wider than the queen bed. Kerry

Kerry...that would make it 66 x 80? Is that correct?

Bill, see my edited post. some rv mattersses may only be 72 on the king bed. I've measured mind, but to be sure, if it's warm tomorrow I'll slide the BR out and measure it. Kerry

The king mattress gives you very little room between the closet door and the bed. Your butt will stick to the mirror... Dave

JMHO - If you don't need the extra size of the King bed, then stick with a queen. It will definitely give you more room around the bed. When we make our King bed, I have to open the closet doors so I can stick my butt in the closet while we make the bed.

Thanks all for your responses. I prefer the queen due to its residential size, unfortunately, the unit has the optional king bed. Since its on my side, DW says just open the closet door and deal with it.

We have the king and find no problem with it @ all. After several trailers with practically no bed, we are happy to have all that downy space. I make the bed without putting anything in the closet, haha, paperheart

DAVE, TMI. TMI. TMI. We have the king and enjoy the extra size with a Lab and a cat in bed with us at night. No room on closet side but we don't spend a lot of time in there anyway. We prefer the extra room in the bed......

The true size of a king bed is 72" X 80" but the unit montana makes is 70" X 80" as that is the size we had made at a mattress shop , but with out the round corners . we love it and deal with the small apace by the mirror ,,, sailer

Ours was 72 x 80. The sacrifice is on he Mirror side. Also, when closed up you cannot walk by the foot of the bed. If I had to do it again I'd go with the Queen size, after all, out of 24 hours I only spend 7-1/2 to 8 hours in it.

The Foam Topper is almost a must. What a difference.

Our 3400 came with the optional king bed. That is why we bought the trailer....for the bed. Well, not totally, but that was one of the reasons. We had a queen in our SOB, and just about "killed" each other. Too narrow. We have a king at the "stick built," and it's just what you get used to. Yeah, it's tight along the closet, but that is DW's side, and she just opens the closet door. One thing we did do....we removed those silly little shelves by the headboard. After hitting them a couple of times in the night and knocking stuff off of them, we decided they weren't that valuable to us. We did keep them though, just in case.....! To each his own, but we would never be without our "king."

We have the king and love it. Never been in the closet kind of guy here anyway.. And yes, no matter what size bed, the foam topper is a must

exav8tr, the vision of the lab and the cat, plus the humans, is too much! Having the queen in our Monty, the goldie parks on the floor by the mirror - Kathy's side - while the cat sleeps on my feet. In the middle of the night, I don't have to trip over anything except my own feet. Also, I really like the closet beside the bed. I keep my stuff there and leave the big closet to Kathy, who ably fills it.

We prefer the Queen sized and specifically ordered it without the king. We took our new Serta 16 inch high mattress from the stick house. Works great and Kohls has plenty of sheets that fit the thick mattresses. We try to get separates when buying sheets, we buy the fitted in queen and the top in either king or California king. The longer the better just for tucking in the bottom. Even with the queen it is still a bit tight between the bed and closet but very doable... Dave

Space around the king is tighter than queen, but we definitely wanted a king with two yorkies that sleep like great danes (even if they start in their own bed they wind up on the bed with us when we are asleep). Plus we have a king at home and this just makes it easier when shopping for linens/rotating stock out from the house. Have put a vinyl tablecloth under the the mattress ("slick"side up) to facilitate moving it when making the bed (there is still a bit of "play" from side to side in the slideout) and keep the closet door open nearest the head of the bed to make moving around the bed easier when we are up there. (Closet side is "my" side.) The "lack" of room to move around is not a big issue as we just go there to change clothes and sleep. We would rather have the sleeping room over the floor space. We use deep pocket king size sheets which work well. We added a three inch memory foam topper (from Camping World) which came with a mattress cover and there is very little "loose" fabric to deal with in the fitted sheets. I just pull the sides and tuck them under. (OBTW we have a 2955RL, but I would imagine, based on the feedback you received thus far, what we are experiencing is/would be similar for everyone opting for a king over a queen.

Dave, we have a smaller Lab (60 lbs) and a bigger cat (20lbs). Lab sleeps at our feet and cat sleeps where he wants. Crowded sometimes, but we love it. We would rather have the "bed" room than the floor space. Works well for us. We also have the topper from Costco. Most comfortable arrangement we have ever had, including a $1500 mattress in the stick home.

Had the Double for decades, the Queen in 2003 and the king in 2007. Really wish I would have just stayed with the queen. Heck, even the double was fine the way we sleep. To me, this King is just too much bed for a camper and really takes too much of the floor space.
