New 5er

We are looking hard for a new 5er. Our choice so far is a DRV. They have a front end like the monty 3400rl and a back end they will adapt by placing the ent. center where the lounge chairs are and vice versa. Keystone woulds not even talk about any custom mods. A few dealers said they would mod after delivery, but I don't know if I want to go with after manufacturering changes that extensive.
Also, a couple custom builders will build to suit but they are talking 2X the price and 9 months to biuld. They also do not have the dealer support networks that Keystone of DRV have.
They Mony is asleep for the summer. We will probably haul it to MacDill AFB in Tampa for the winter one more time.
Its been fun so far but geting worn down with our hravy use (over 70,000 miles and living in her more than 70% of the time).

Have you looked at other Montana floorplans? Our 3665RE has the entertainment center in the rear and a fully enclosed bath and we really like the layout.

This is our 5th camper all different brands and the thought was that if we got another one it probably would not be a Montana.Radhazjoe you use yours more than us. We long time. Live in the 06 3400 6 months of the year and all told are in it at leat 8/9 months. We figure @ 40K miles in the last 4 years. We use this guy hard and it has seen the worst of our highway system. To be frank we are surprised at how well it has held up. We figured if we got 6/7 years out of it we would be lucky. We show wear and tear and we did have the OEM suspension replaced, If we were to consider a higher end unit I would look at the suspension and not consider one without IS suspension. We had the IS suspension installed on the 3400 for a lot less than purchasing a higher end unit with the IS system.
We note the "better" units on the road with the same issues that we have. This guy will do 7 years..no problem. We have changed our mind based on Montana experience. We would buy another Montana of the right floor plan rather than upgrading to a higher end unit. Cost vs benefits.

the 3400rl is the only floor plan that fits all our needs except the swap of the an entertainment center with the loung chairs. Montana will not alter. We need washer dryer next to entry door.

Sounds like the only thing for you to do is "pretend" you are sitting on the side of your rig when sitting on the lounge chairs! Seriously, we did some pretty extensive research before buying our Montana and it seems that most (all?) of the models we considered that had a rear living set up with the entertainment center on the back/rear wall also had the laundry setup in the sleeping area (taking up valuable closet space). In order to avoid any possible violations of forum rules, I will send you a POC at the dealer we purchased our rig from...if you are interested, fine...if not, just delete! Hope you do finally find a rig that meets your needs.
