Taking batteries out for winter storage
Is there anything I should know about taking the two Marine batteries out that I have in our 2017 3820 FK that are wired together, to bring them home, and keep them charged up, probably separately? Anyone have ideas on this? Or do I keep them wired together, and charge them both together?

I leave mine in and charge them together with a smart trickle charger.

Only problem with that, is that we are about 45 minutes away from our storage facility?

If your winters are brutal, I would pull out, you can trickle charge separately or in series.

As long as both batteries are the same in age and condition I would charge in series that is important even when charging in the rig.I would check all cells with a hydrometer to be sure they are all close to equal to be sure you are getting a proper charge

You can get a solar charger for 50 dollar or so if your camper is somewhere it won't walk off.

Our Northern Ohio winters could be brutal and when we were home for the winter months we pulled them out and stored them inside.

In series batteries, if they are 12 v will yield 24v. In parallel(pos. to pos. and neg. to negative) will yield 12v. In series batteries, if they are 6v will yield 12v. In parallel will yield 12v.

To correct myself, two 6 v batteries in parallel will yield 6 v. Sorry, a senior moment.

As long as your batteries are good and fully charged, just leave them in the RV. Disconnect one negative cable. If you decide to take them out, take a picture of the connections so there is no confusion when re-installing.

They have that "Disconnect" red key that I turned to disconnect? Does that do the same thing as disconnecting one negative cable?

I have two 12volt in my 2008 3400RL Kirkland brand from Costco. They have never been pulled out. My fifth wheel is plugged in year around.
They are 6*1/2 years old ,and still going strong. On a recent hunting trip they were used every night to run the lights ,and furnace. Furnace ran off, and on all night for four nights. They never showed under 3/4 charge on the gauge. Charged them back up everyday with a small generator.
Winters are pretty cold here in Utah, but never had a problem leaving in the fifth wheel. and the fifth wheel plugged in. I see no reason to EVER remove them, I do check the fluid level periodically .
I am surprised, why bother to pull them out, if you can just keep them plugged in.
But to answer the op's question keep them hooked together, and keep on a trickle charger.

Not the same thing. Even with the "red key" off, there are still parasitic draws on the batteries. For long term storage, with batteries installed, disconnect one negative cable.

I was at the 5th wheel storage lot today, doing some repairs, and had the Onan 5000 generator on, and noticed the battery volts on the level up display go from 12.4V when I first arrived there, to 13.8V an hour later. Does the generator charge the batteries? If so, since I plan on being there from time to time to do things like wax the RV etc., I might just disconnect one of the negative cables like Jerry mentioned when I leave, and while i am there I can hook it up and run the generator???

It's also good to "exercise" your generator periodically.
