Gettysburg late July
Each summer, we use a trip as a family reunion with my parents and my 3 siblings and their respective families. This year, we are looking at Gettysburg - late July, not over the 4th. My parents are elderly and my mother, due to a stroke a few years ago, is limited in her mobility. Looking for thoughts on Drummer Boy and for Gettysburg Campground. I have looked at various reviews and at RV Parks Review but had mixed thoughts on some of the comments made on the reviews. Any thoughts and info is welcome. Thanks, Mike

We spent a few days in Gettysburg 2 summers ago. Stayed at Artillery Ridge Campground. Decent park close to everything and is Passport America. Would use again.

This year is the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. At least around the reenactment weekends early in the month, prices for camping and hotels have skyrocketed. Don't know if the prices will ease after the reenactment or if they will stay high for the entire season. I would recommend that you nail down your plans as soon as possible and check prices before you finalize your reservations. Rumor has it that the Motel 6 near downtown is charging over $300/night.

We have stayed at Artillery Ridge and the Gettysburg KOA. Both were fine. Wonderful place to visit.

If you are members of Travel Resorts of America, the stay at Gettysburg Battlefield CG is free. Nic place, located on battlefield, gate to walk onto bf. will surely go again. Ask for self tour DVD and map.

Mike,
We have stayed at Cordorus State Park which is about 30 min from the heart of Gettysburg. PA State CG's are one of the best on the east coast.
Try this link: http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/ucmprd2/...cnr_004800.pdf

Good Luck,
Les
