Crackling niose from mircowave.

My 2011 High Country, has a High Pointe microwave. Model # EM925RSL
today we started hearing a light crackling sound coming from the unit when not in use. When I turn off the breaker it stops.

Searched google and found SOB forum with same microwave and same problem. Seems to be all 2011 units.

Have any other Montana High Country owners heard this sound?

Sounds like a possible defect. An idle microwave making noise would make me nervous. Try and take a recording (evidence) and get this thing swapped out before something gets worse.

Ummmmm, to me ANY 120V. appliance that starts making "crackling" noises when not being used is worthy of immediate investigation and, if it were me, disconnection until that investigation shows "all clear".

I did find one person who traced to a small speaker in the unit that's used for the beeping sound when pushing the button. None the less, breaker is off. Another posted a number to call at High Pointe, and said they were told this model was discontinued.

It would be worthwhile to understand if the model was discontinued for this specific issue. At any rate, others suggestion to disconnect until resolved is good advice.
Good luck with it.
