2005 heater control problem

I have a 2005 Montana 2980RL that has a heater problem someone else might have had and might be able to recommend a fix. The 2005 model is the year they came up with the hand held remote controller.
Problem: The heater will not hold a setting and when it comes on it increased the temperature by 6-7 degrees before it shuts off. Then it cools down 10 or more degrees before it will turn back on. Each cycle requires me to set the temperature 4-5 degrees higher to come on again. This finally results in having to set the temperature to over 80 degrees to get the heat to come on when the inside temperature is at 66 degrees.
I complained to Montana and, after much haggling, they replaced the system but the results were the same.
The only way to I have found to make it work is for me to turn the entire system on and off manually.
Of note, the ’06 models did away with this system and now have a wall mounted unit that controls the heat to within a few degrees.
Any advice will be appreciated.

you need the comfort control center it will replace the worthless remote control unit. Stand your ground call Dometic they will send you the unit if you will insist on it. Not hard to install did mine in less than 1 hour I was done, works perfect.

I replaced my hand held with a confort control center, however I also needed to replace a part in the a/c before the confort control could communicate with a/c. System now works great.
