WHERE is the part number stamped on my axles?

After 30k+ miles, I'm getting ready to do a complete brake inspection & maybe rework, but I want to get the right seals before tearing anything apart. I know people have said the part number is stamped on the axle, but I can't seem to find it on either one. There's the shipping label on each one and they've got one line that says "Dex # 1550131" but I don't think that's it.

Mine was on a band around the axle and I believe it was also stamped into the axle.

Mine is stamped on the backside of each axle tube in the middle. You can only see it when you are on your back, laying on the rocks, with your face close. Then it becomes obvious. John

This is from Dexter themselves:

"On all axles produced after April 2001, this nine digit number can be found near the center on the rear side of the axle beam. Look for the words DEXTER AXLE and the lot number will be located directly under the name. For easier identification, rubbing a piece of chalk over the number may help bring out the engraving.

Recreational Vehicle axles that have been certified for use in Canada will also bear the letters CSA."

I can save you some time on the seals ... Dexter axles from 5500# to 7000# use the same seals for the EZ lube application. OD is 3.376" ID is 2.25" (10-36) is the part number. I can also save you some dough ... buying directly from Dexter is pricey. About any trailer sales store carries equivalent seals. In today's world of manufacturing, about anything comes from overseas no matter whose name is on it. Here's an example source https://www.etrailer.com/Seals-for-T.../RG06-070.html Notice the seal interchange chart in the nomenclature.

Thanks, dieselguy. That's probably all I need (as long as I don't have to replace any brake stuff). I've a really good RV/trailer parts place that looks like a dump on the outside, but has just about anything & everything inside. Kind of like an old hardware store. They've got at least a dozen different size seals though. They also carry everything from brake shoes & magnets to complete assemblies, so those parts will be there too. I just don't want to have to make a dozen trips.
