Had to put our dog down

John and I had to put Roxie down last week, she was 13 which was pretty good for a Roxie/Mastiff mix. She was a great companion along with Maggie and we will miss her alot.

We are so sorry to hear about Roxie. It's hard to loose such an important part of your family. Take comfort in knowing that you did the right thing for her.

We're so sorry to hear that Debbie, she was such a neat dog.
Our poor Maggie is over 13 years and we're enjoying her as much as possible.
When we lost her sister a little over a year ago is was so hard,we'll never forget our lovable Labs!
God Bless,
Jack and Terry

So sorry to hear this Debbie, hope this brings some solace:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

You have our sympathy also. We lost our 14 yr old rescue Golden just over a year ago. She was a really great dog who managed to have a good life in spite of a number of health issues.
In October, we adopted another Golden, a 6 yr old. Another great dog.
A new dog can't really replace another, but they can sure fill a big empty spot.

Also sorry to hear of your loss...our Abby is getting on in years and we know that she will not always be with us; knowing how much we love her, we can only imagine the pain you must be feeling. Again, so sorry.

We are so sorry Debbie and John. This is the hardest thing to do as pet owners.

You loved her enough to release her from misery. That's a great kindness. I've often thought that a persons character can be measured by how much love and compassion they have for their animal family members. You have pain now, but the memories are what lasts.

I have never lost a pet as I never had any until 5 years ago. Now we have 2, a yorkie and a maltease, and they are an important part of our family. I sometimes wonder how I will handle the decision you had to make. I do know it will be one of the hardest of my life. I am sorry for your loss.

I think making the decision to put a furry family member down is the toughest decision to make. You did the right thing, but that doesn't make you feel any better. May God give you comfort!

Thank You everyone for you thoughtfulness regarding Roxie. We picked up her remains yesterday and it was really hard to do, but she will still be with us in mind and spirit.

We are so sorry, we know what you are going through as we had to put our Doxie down at age 15. He was the only dog our kids had ever had. My wife went in with him and stayed until he was gone. I could have never done that, must to hard.
