shower head

I just got a 2009 3400RL. I traded in a 2002 3280RL, and it's interesting to see the difference in "quality" from one to the other. It just seems to me that they have "eased" up a bit.
The shower head raises up and down on a "brass" colored pole. there is a small button you push on the side of the slide to relaese it so it can slide easily, and when u release the button, it's suppose to stay in the position you left it. Well, while the water is flowing thru the shower heae, the whole slide works it way down. You can just imagine, tring to bend your knees and get shorter to stay under the water. It's easy enough to raise it back up again, but it continues to slip.
Does anyone know how to get the brass colored bar and brackets off?
I thought maybe I could fabricate something to keep it from sliding so easy.

There should be end caps on both ends of the bar. Gently pry those off. There should be screws and, probably, double sided tape holding the bar to the wall. A long piece of nylon fishing line will help to "saw" through the tape.

Thanks Larry, that sounds like a logical solution.
There are end caps. I just didn't know how they came off.

You can use Goo B Gone that will loosen the sticky tape on the wall and make it easier to get off.
