FoxFi app

Just tried it to verify wifi access for my tablet and laptop here at the campground using my Droid Razr Maxx with the FoxFi app as a hot spot and had full connectivity. Great app to use if no wifi available.

I also use this app with my Samsung Charge. Simple to use but need to make sure you use it in the WEP mode. This app works great when the wife wants to use Ipad when rolling down the road. I also use eazytether but this app needs to be tied to laptop with a data cable.

Tom, I just make sure the wireless LAN is on and the laptop finds the signal as it would the wireless signal in a CG. Try rebooting the computer as well and it should ask you for the password and after logging in, you should be good to go. Sometimes it takes a minute or so to link and I also have to sometimes reboot the DROID.

Dennis, Seems like it will not go wifi with your HTC, but will connect using Bluetooth.

I finally got mine to work, seems that my laptop was connected to my home wireless network upon boot up. I would shutdown MY wireless connection and then try to connect to FOXFI, and would not get an IP address.

So, after shutting down auto connect to my wireless network, and rebooting laptop, everything worked just fine.

I can use FoxFi and link up to my laptops but when I try to link up to my Toshiba tablet I can't get it to work. Any suggestions?

Go to the control panel on the Toshiba and open up the wifi controls. You should see the new phone hot spot here and then click on it, provide the password and activate. Works great on mine. If the problem persists, PM me and will get the problem resolved somehow.

Tks Tim, I do believe HTC is not yet included. Does FoxFI have secure access (https)?

I use PDANet and had to pay a one time fee of $18 and it includes https. It's an average alternative but works in tethering to laptop just fine.

FoxFI looks like a great app. Tks for sharing.

Dennis, Foxfi has WPA2 security built in after you establish the password on your phone. I have also used PDA net and it is a great system as well. Tim

If you download the latest version of PDANET, it comes with FoxFI. So when you start up PDANET, instead of having just 2 choices(tether or blue tooth) a 3th choice, WIFI Hotspot appears.

Although I have not verified HTTPS with the hotspot, I would think its there since its there for PDANET alone.

I've been using PDANet fror soon time. The last uplate included FoxFi. I love it. When you get 4G it's very fast. Also you get the https sites.

I have been using this app and find that it works just great on my Samsung Droid.
I use a Netgear wifi antenna via a usb port.
After initial install procedures...

1..start app on phone.
2..insert wifi antenna into usb port for computer.
3..wait for link to be made.

As mentioned above make sure that you run the app in secure mode (requires a pass word to access from your computer). I have accessed using my desktop computer and two tablets at the same time. I find that speed is very good.
